Just went trout fishing last Tuesday. Lake is as full as ever still. Trout bite is perfect even if you fish from the bank 100 yards past Stuarts fork bridge (the creek that comes into trinity) lake is full enough to jump off the bridge, it's fun. Give it a shot ;)
@almostevil100 I have been wanting to go up there to film the full lake. I am surprised it is full since they let a lot of the water drain out to the ocean, but we still had lots of snow melt to fill it back up again. No, I am not crazy and will not be jumping off the bridge to the shallow water and rocks below. Enjoy the lake and stuart trail.
That wasn't nothing. By October, 2009 the "lake" was so far out that you couldn't even see it anymore. And the stream in the video, the Stuart Fork, was barely a trickle.
The good news is that as of July, 2011, the lake is filled to the brim and even with releases for the Central Valley project the lake should stay RELATIVELY high throughout the summer as there's so much snow to keep filling it thru summer.
@lukebccb I should go back up there and film an update so people who come across my channel do not think there is no water or fish. I heard they stocked the lake this year. I agree it should stay relatively full for the summer even though they dumped a lot of water out a month ago for the salmon run. Thank you for the comment.
The lake is still down, but they are letting us keep some of the water for our selves this year. The boat ramp is still far from the water and unusable. I will head back up to the lake to do an up date on the lake level.
This is a man made drought. We have had lots of rain in the past month. They are letting the water out faster then it is coming in. You can tell my the huge amount of water flowing away from the dam compare to the stream coming in.

Very sad.
We houseboated there on a full lake in 1983 for our honeymoon. I hope it recovers before long. It is important for so many reasons.
