Agreed. Scrap it and start from scratch. Then don't try to negotiate with hard-headed Republicans (or Leiberman, for that matter) because they've already tried that and it's obvious they're not going to play ball.
If the Dems put the public option back into the bill, and the Republicans fillibuster and defeat it, then we will see how voters react with the results of the 2010 senate races.
Yes. The danger of passing anything now is that the ignorant, unwashed masses will be easily convinced that their shittier situation - obviously caused by there being NO real change in the system - will be blamed by the right on "Obama's healthcare reforms". It's curious that there are so many ill-informed people out there, who, like children, literally do not know what is good for them.
