Reason why I don't like Glee covers, they're cheap meaningless covers that have no reason to exist other than to cash in with past favorites, yes covers are common but the best ones usually have the artist doing their own take(change some of the tempos or whatever) not a karaoke version of the song. I don't trash Glee much(though I hate it) but somehow singing a muppet song is too much for me.
@yiskachana actually this version is in fact from Sesame street, back in it's early days when it was created, later it was used in The Muppet show and so on
I have to say, back in those years, that song was the best, but now there are many covers of songs from 60s 70s 80s which people try to sing it way better, but I think that depends on the audience, and the fans, and people who really knows about music. They say if the song is really good for audience in the XX century, or if it is just another cover full of crap, this is a personal opinion.
and by the way Damian did an excellent Job with this song. He is amazing, Give him a chance =)
@kop363 It's two different things, why you mad, bro? O.o It's just a song. And....Damian McGinty is pretty freaking amazing, and Kermit's a classic. Just chill, yo. O.o
I just recently bought a muppet dvd-set for my little 2,5 year old niece.. Including clips like these... she loves it. Why don't they show these kinda shows more nowadays? This is gold... pure gold.
The opening lyrics gave me goosebumps on my arms. By the time he sang the lyric mentioning Spring, my eyes were looking glassy. Almost nothing causes that. I love the song because it's absolutely low-key. The vocals are clear and audible, but quiet, set against an even quieter, rolling flute and guitar. Neither vocals or the music backing it reach any extreme in pitch or volume. Only lyrically. It doesn't come across as preachy, but an unassuming effort, a take it or leave it kind of tone.
I've watched a 1986 Sesame Street video called "bedtime stories and songs" several times. Strangely the original back description mentioned Kermit to be involved but there was no clip featuring him. Still if there was one I'm very sure it would be this one because it is apparently set at night and he sings the song in a soft gentle way that would fit perfectly with the rest of original video. I think it could go right between, "Everybody sleeps" and "Middle of Imagination".
@Pigeon343 no jim henson is already dead. he died in 1990 cause he was very very sick. but he did play this song. he died of streptococcus pneumonia. steve whitmire plays him and ernie now luckily..idk
@williamkendrick The childrens shows today are pretty much teaching kids to try and be popular and follow the crowd. @75flash luckilly there are still good shows out there, but nowadays us parents much be much more diligent, much more careful about what we allow our children to watch.
