  • @CmDrRaxX

i like return of saturn as well

the club type music on rock steady was cool for what it was. i mean like.. hey baby and hella good are both decent singles, with the memorable tune being "underneath it all"

  • her music with no doubt was better than her solo stuff 2 me.

  • I second that...I was just telling my roommate the same thing!

  • CmDrRaxX Likes this.

  • @ASHLEY4500 I second that

  • @ASHLEY4500 Because it wasn't really HER music in No Doubt. Plus, it's mainly the work with Eric that was good in No Doubt. Just listen to "Return of Saturn". What a piece of..........

  • @stakleni00 What the flying fuck are you speaking about, you half-witted Philistine? Return of Saturn is their best album. Plus, Eric work about two songs off Tragic Kingdom.

  • @ArchdukeJames Eric+Tragic Kingdom=more than 2 songs. Return of Saturn was too much pop, it didn't have strong, energetic songs as Sunday Morning, Just a Girl, or Spiderwebs. So you might consider ROS as their best album, but the fact remains that it was not even nearly as successful as Tragic Kingdom, nor was it as well recieved, nor does it stand the test of time as Tragic Kingdom does. But hey, that's my and many others' opinion. You're not wrong if you personally love ROS more.

  • @stakleni00 Thanks for coming back so civil. I kind of was a jerk to you, so I am sorry.

As for Eric's role: I also somewhat overstated. He was sole writer on only two songs - he was collaborative writer on six. However, as Eric left fairly far before TK hit, I am going to assume those collaborative roles were fairly slight.

Also, yeah, Tragic Kingdom was the huge hit ROS never was. However, I would disagree that ROS is too pop - that'd be Rock Steady.

  • @stakleni00 ROS was ska, but far more focused on sad songs, and with a more mature voice. TK is a great album - and I do not deny this - but ROS features the best of No Doubt's lyrics and probably their most notable songs outside of Don't Speak. I am thinking of Ex-Girlfriend, Bathwater, Simple Kind of Life, Artificial Sweetener, Too Late, et cetera.

By my reckoning, it goes: ROS > TK > RS > No Doubt > Beacon.

  • no doubt is back this summer
