mine took about around 3 months or 4 and i cleaned it by outting little less then a table spoon on sea talk(with no iodise) in a cup and then my eye in the cup so all the water was surrounding my ear (lol looked stupid holding a cup on my ear sideways but it worked :P) hoped that helped:)
