I love the Japanese version alittle more then the English version of this scene. Their lines were much beter then in English for some reason and the sound of it better. Not that I don't like the English version as well. I have it saved as a file on my PSP. XD

I think all the SOLDIERs knew. If you talk to them on the SOLDIER floor in the game, they make several references to Zack's 'girlfriend'.

You could also argue that PRESIDENT SHINRA (Rufus' dad) is the true bad guy in all of this b/c his evil/greed/powerlust founded the mega-corp Shinra that made the planet's ppl dependent on Mako, HE authorized/funded Prof Gast's expedition to dig up Jenova & search for the Promised Land, HE authorized/funded the Jenova Project & all the experiments, HE approved the killing of Gast & the kidnapping of Ifalna/Aerith, HE authorized/funded the SOLDIER project, etc. etc...

Hasn't there been something said in canon (like the Ultimania) about Seph having had his mind taken over by Jenova cells? o.o **hugs him.** I know it's been said in canon that he eventually was controlling her instead, while he himself was still insane, but that would indicate that she had been in control first.

Seph controlled by Jenova makes more sense to me than the other way around, too. The trauma of learning his true origins could have opened the door to her influence, but I don't see how the information alone could have made Sephiroth go that crazy. I'm with ya, Lisa and Lucky.

The FF7 UOG says that Seph is controlling Jenova, not the other way around. I'd like to believe the opposite b/c it makes Seph seem less 'evil', but it's just not the case. Also, why would Jenova suddenly be able to control him when he's had her cells in him since birth? Wouldn't she have done so much sooner? Why wait 'til now? I like the theory that he wrongfully believes he's the son of a god and becomes drunk w/power. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. He has absolute power.

I thought it said that Seph eventually controlled Jenova, not that he had control of her from the start. Since he wasn't even aware of her presence until Nibelheim, I have a hard time believing that he could suddenly take control of her without her having done anything first.

UOG makes no reference to 'eventually' nor 'from the start'. It just says that Seph is in control of Jenova. I guess it's up to the player to determine when Seph took control. Even if she had control of him at some point, why'd he not go 'mad' sooner? In breeding chocobos, the offspring are more powerful than the parents. Likewise, I think Seph was more powerful than his 'mother' Jenova from birth & that she was never able to control him at any point or else she would've done so much sooner.

About who controls who....I think that Jenova controlled Sephiroth at the time of Nibelheim almost completely due to his breakdown..but in the 5 years of being in the lifestream, he got the upper hand and controlled her by the start of FFV11 proper! He is still crazy but not amok like at Nibelheim when Jenova first took control! In AC,he definitely is in more control yet...still crazy,and Jenova influenced but she is not in total control, he is..he would not toy with Cloud etc if she was!

Love Crisis Core very much! I think that Zack is informal with Sephiroth because Sephiroth knows how good a friend Zack was to Angeal,who Sephiroth also considered a friend. BTW..the pre-crazy Sephiroth is much as I imagined him(compelling!), and makes his villian status in FF7 as poignant and sad as ever...could dude get even a tiny break, with Hojo,the background etc? Yes, it's so amazing, especially since they really haven't known each other that long! They just get along so beautifully. Chapter 4 is my favorite section, but this scene is right up there, too. Seph's soft smile watching Zack is just adorable.
