  • The bit where a big crow attacks Ian Holme. Is that a version of the Borrowers.

  • Hello wayzotoichi, thanks for putting this video on to YouTube. I loved this Children's BBC advert from 1998 and I still love it. No matter how many times I watch this advert I never get bored with it.

  • Had completely forgotten about this... Don't the years simply disappear?

  • I miss the old programms from those days it's becoming crap now

  • Ha! ha! Seen what Scott looks like now! Go to A and J management website and search for him!

  • Didn't the re-show this, this year?

  • when i watch this vid, all way trubles dissappear. the bbc seems so magical, not a big corperation, yanking our money out of our hands.

  • I used to be scared of this advert as well, and in a traumatic experience my mum took me to the now defunct ABC cinema for the first time when I was 5 (now 16), and this was the first advert on the reel after the eqyually traumatic CSA ident :P

I was pretty much traumatised between 2:17 and 2:42 but the Teletubbies, familiar territory, helped comfort me! oh how we were as kids :D

  • God I remember that advert when I was little I was scared of the big crow bit

Cute little boy must be my age now (16 years)

  • yeah he was cute :)

  • That's what makes the BBC so special!

  • Can anyone send me a link to the sequel to this BBC promo? It's called "Shaggy Dog Story" and it promotes the BBC's comedy output. It features a number of British comedians/comedy actors and it involves them all taking turns to tell a long winded story about a horse playing for a local cricket team...

Please help if you can. Many thanks.

  • i love arthur cartoon in english(1992-2005) lo amabaaaaaa:-( bwaaaaaahhh im cry.

  • I loved this1 really shows the diff between tv to day and the years befor!

  • I'm guessing 1986 or 87 because of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which came out in 1986

  • oh no, that there's retrospective clips there. I remember when it came out and I was ten years older than when Narnia came out..btw LWW was produced in 1988. I remember it fondly. The aussie-produced cartoon version was from the late seventies..early eighties.

  • lol its DEFINITELY not 1986, i can assure you.

  • Correct because in part of it there is Dennis the menace and that didnt come out til 1996.

  • yeah, trust me, it was 1998!

  • Pretty unanimous?! 1998/ into 1999..rest assured a small team of internet marmosets have been instructed to make the required alterations (for the final time..)

  • I think you have the wrong year, but that little boy is too adorable

  • which year then? I think it can't be as early as 1996..must be 1997 then.

  • I think this promo was shown in 1999.

  • This trail was shown as part of Children In Need in 1998 and repeated through early 1999. There was an article about it in a copy of the Radio Times at the time.

  • fantastic, detailed knowledge there playcake, much appreciated. ;)

  • i cant believe i found it on here!

    thanks for uploading it!
