  • Why did u decide to install a new dvd drive and a hard drive?

  • @TheProductreviewsinc because the old DVD Drive didn't match the case color and the hard drive that was installed before died.

  • @Vcamnowaa I got one of these, Made a video on another channel I called SGcomputing, but I got lucky considering I payed 5$ for it and it cam with Windows 98. Not SE though.

  • hey LOLZpersonok, can you try to fix "NTLDR"?

  • Hey vcamnowaa please upload a video of that dell server working soon

  • hey vcamnowaa please upload a video about that dell server by the way your videos are awesome

  • Install Gentoo.

  • Everytime I try to boot my Compaq's hard disk it says:

    "NTLDR Is Missing

    Press Any Key To Restart"

I press any key and it just says it again. If I take the hard drive out of the computer and put it in another, it still says NTLDR is missing. Doesn't matter what computer it is. And nothing seems to be booting to any CDs : /

  • @LOLZpersonok did that hard drive have 2000 or XP installed on it? and do you have a bootable 98SE disk? also make sure your boot sequence is correctly set by pressing F10 to get to the BIOS

  • @vcamnowaa The hard drive had Windows 95 on it. I put it in my HP Compaq and backed up all files and then formatted it. Then I moved the backups back onto the hard drive after receiving the "NTLDR" thing. I still get it, but if I put in an empty floppy disk and open the CD drive and then boot it, it will say "Starting Windows 95" and then tell me that a bunch of things are missing. Also it will not let me enter the BIOS : /

  • @LOLZpersonok did you keep pressing F10? and does the windows 95 CD that you have boot on other machines? and it won't boot on the compaq

  • @vcamnowaa I've tried pressing F10 repeatedly, and nothing happens. I do not have a Windows 95 CD yet because my ISO burning program wrecked my CD. So I will try that

  • Just a side note, I think his username is meant to be said like:

    lols (not LOL Z) personok.

  • Nice! last time you had to install it on the eMachines with the fireball, I remember watching that way back when, and now its dead, but thats cool. now WIndows 98 can be a 100% true install!

  • In my reply below I said the MediaGX is fully intel compliant but upon further reading it was not so my bad on that one.

Apparently this is a common problem when installing Win98 and with the further reading up it's understandable as to why. Although it was made during the Pentium era it was mostly 486 era in design.

So in actual fact there is nothing wrong with it in the sense of something being broken, the BIOS on the board is just fine.

  • Reflash BIOS and problems are fixed - otherwise throw this to garbage, because trying to fix motherboard is usually not productive

  • @crogeek you must not know him very well, This was his first PC, and its rare. He'd never get rid of it, lol

  • @IamFat32 so what? - Every kid can access bios settings, but not every kid do know how to reflash BIOS properly.

  • @crogeek I know that, but you said to throw it in the garbage, I didn't say anything about bios flashing, which just takes 1 diskette and 10 minutes of time. no offense, lets not start a flame war =)

  • @IamFat32 my intention wasn't flaming - and I am not a troll. I am only geek which speaks only a truth, nothing else. Truth is my ally. BTW flashing BIOS on diskette isn't recommended at all, procedure is usually very quick. Just download exe BIOS/eeprom file then install it trough operating system and that's it. And I forgot to mention, don't turn electric off - otherwise PC would be totally killed

  • Pirated disk. Nuff said, if it were real you'd see an icon of an optical disk w/ the Windows Logo.

  • @user99673 I had a real Windows 98SE disk at one time, did the same shit nuff said!

  • Its my piece of shit and I love it. :D Reminds me of my Toshiba laptop.

  • Why does it beep like that?

  • @JeremyPassarelli it beeps because of the incompatible BIOS and it could also be the cpu since its not made by intel

  • That beeping is more likely a keyboard error usually from a stuck key, which probably means your PS/2 port is probably off, but we know it isn't as it doesn't do that at the BIOS POST.

Now it could be a compatibility issue with either or both the hard drive and optical drive. My Presario 2200 (2110) I think only boots hard drive or floppy but I know my 2200 (4220) will boot anything just fine although it hasn't got the original optical drive in it.

  • It could also be caused by the jumpers being on cable select, although that shouldn't cause any problems, sometimes things are just weird that way.

  • @Lupni3rd I've checked them and the only setting's this machine will allow is Slave and Master if I set one of them to cable select, I will get a message called (Fixed Disk Failure) or Replace the disk and press any key,

  • @Lupni3rd I think its a processor problem because this CPU isn't made by intel or AMD or any processors that we know standard computers have this one is very different

  • @vcamnowaa Sorry I misheard, I thought you said the jumpers were set to cable select. Yeah the processor is a MediaGX if I remember it was by Cyrix. However it's fully intel x86 compliant. Did it give you any random errors whilst running the previous OS?

The CD being a copy won't affect it in any way or at least shouldn't, I've used copied discs for years rather than my originals.

  • @Lupni3rd I still got the beep and letter symbols before but no issues running 95, 98, and 98SE Windows ME works but the drivers won't work with it. Windows 95 and ME don't give me those odd beep sounds only 98 and 98SE

  • That beeping problem is probably caused by your install CD, my 98 SE disc had that same problem, but I burned new disc and that solved it:)

  • @TheDuumiMuumi I've had the original 98SE disk before did the same thing.

  • cool!
