  • I hate that the Buchanan kids have NO values. They are selfish and immoral. V&C's kids should have been the new heroes of the show.

  • Do you have the scene where Viki bought the soft nightgown for when Clint came home from the hospital blind? I remember that scene. Do you have the scene following this one? Thanks SO much for all of your great posts. They are really appreciated by this viewer. Re family scenes -- this was a time in our history as a country when we still had great family values, when parents were smarter than their kids, and family was the backbone of our culture.

  • LOVE anything Clint Ritchie.

  • If she had re-watched this tape she probably would not have "fallen in love" with Sloan.

  • @KGirl1953 She never would've fallen in love with Sloan if it wasn't for Billy Douglas which I think was weak! I felt she had no chemistry with Sloane at all, but there WAS break up chemistry w/ Clint. Sloan dies and she never gets back with Clint!

I DO like how Viki never looks back when a relationship ends. YUP, she just called Tom a friend. I love Viki. She'll flirt, but once your done - you're done! She's so gangsta! Viki's like "on to tha next one. on to tha next one!" lol

  • LOVE anything Clint Ritchie.

  • I have remembered this scene since I first saw it in 1987. It slayed me then and now. ES and CR were perfection together. That said I need a Mr. and Mrs. B reunion before the series ends on ABC.

  • @kavan30013 And I needed the real Mr. B to be given the respect and dignity that Phily Carey was afforded when he died! The writers should have NEVER recast his role! Even ES pleaded with OLTL not to. This type of pre-recorded tape would have been the proper way Clint Ritchie could have proudly exited the show.

  • wow! What great stuff! Thank you so much for posting this. I haven't seen it since it aired.

  • these are some truly great scenes -- and should prove to anyone that (a) there was far more to OLTL in the late 80s than over the top storylines, (b) as good an actor as Jerry VerDorn is, they never should've recast Clint when Clint Ritchie left the show, and (c) for all the drama, OLTL knew that family was the bread and butter of the show. Thanks for posting, VRC!!

  • @willtool77 That's so true! There WAS more to OLTL than over the top stuff. That's what made the over the top intense!

  • This is one of the most touching scenes on OLTL I have ever seen, and I have seen MANY on OLTL. Clint Ritchie's portrayal was understated and simple and yet very, very effective. And Erika is just well, AMAZING as always. It seems you don't get this on OLTL anymore.

  • @dereka79 It's really beautiful, especially since they let this end on a happy moment instead of some big dramatic foreboding. Viki and Clint went through so much but they still had these moments of family and happiness that you don't get on soaps now. Instead, the kids are invisible and only seen when it's time for some melodramatic stupidity.

I see the tape as the real goodbye to Clint and all Clint stood for. I miss him.

  • Great touch playing the OLTL theme song during Clint's speech.

  • All these scenes with Tom I never saw and yet he seems like he's still front burner story. Also nobody on YouT seems to know how Tom OR the actor LP left the show. It seems his contract ended and... that was that.
