I know Truesonic2k's comment is 6 months old, but I'd like to expand on potentials. There are two kinds: Personal and Class. Class potentials are unlocked by leveling up and are always positive. Personal potentials may be positive or negative, all but the final are automatically unlocked. The final personal potential is unlocked by using a character in battle, using a special Order, or the 4 main story characters have to do a special battle. Characters can have 4 of each type of potential.

true, it's obvious EP cheated and used the exp and money earned in several skirmishes to upgrade the soldiers. The cheater.

and not only that, it's obvious EP learned how to better use the units through trial and error at the same time!

Well when it goes off, she'll refuse to attack. So basically you waste a CP and also it might put her in a bad position especially if you rush an enemy defensive position with her.

Game looks excellent. What does it mean when you "potential" shows up by your character?

Kind of like random power up abilities that make each character unique. Some of them are not helpful though like Susie's humanitarian.
