  • Johnny Johnson tickling the ivorys is a beautful thing here. He was working as a garbage man before this gig. Keith found him for the show. Chuck kinda treated ole Johnny wrong.

  • RIP, Lady Etta.

(anyone know who that is on the Hammond? That's some smokin' work.)

  • @MCEH3 That is Chuck Leavell....has been a live keyboardist for the Rolling Stones in more recent years....famed session player.

  • Rest in peace, Etta. You were the best.

  • Rest in Peace Etta, you brought a true gift to this world that will last long after you have gone....

  • R.I.P. Etta, and thank you.

  • I had the vid for this since the mid 90's and loved it. Got the DVD with these extras a year or so back and I think they are just as good as the gig itself. Mean Old World and the Rock Jam that kicks it off as well as the commentary on the making it great stuff. Etta nails it here. Steve Jordon, Johnnie Johnson, Cray, Keith, and band are killer.

  • Hoochie Coochie Man is my favourite blues song to sing, it's the first time I've I've heard it sung by a woman and only Etta can pull it off like that. Etta is an inspiration to us all. Sorry to hear of her illness. Houndogmcg.

  • its hysterical that Beyonce played Ms Etta in Cadillac Records. that said, am prayin for you Etta.. I hope you are doin ok and family is taking good care of you. Bless you for all you give to us.

  • Great moment, thank you to have shared it.

    Roberto

  • This is an outtake from " Hail Hail rock and roll. at first Etta couldn't get it because she didn't bring her glasses and couldn't remember the lyrics exactly and started to get upset , so Keith Richards said hold on, hold, wait a minute and got his cheater glasses and gave them to her and then she blew Chucks mind on the second take. ... the whole scene is hilarious.....lol.

  • some of the best muddy waters students

  • Who's idea was it to have Beyonce portray Etta James? Beyonce's vocals CANNOT compare to Etta James. This is soul, I mean, this woman is digging deep to sing this song.

  • I love Etta. Saw her at the house of blues and she was so genuine in her performance that it still gives me chills. She is the Hoochie Coochie Girl and more. Love ya Etta and always will.

  • I read somehwere that Chuck Berry used to invite a bunch of (only) blonde white women to his house, line them up and pee in their mouths.

  • ADORO!!!!

  • I think Chuck Berry has drop too much LSD on this one!

  • Very very sad to hear about Etta,s serious health issues at the moment ....its a real shame.

  • Fricken mind blowing!

  • Legendary and historical. Every part of it.

  • I spent the 3 day's of Christmas reading Keith Richards 'Life', he is a true living legend. Never meet your heroes, usually true, not in his case. Absolutely fab history of his life in music, so inspiring.

  • THE BASS PLAYER? JOEY....FROM NRBQ.....Johnnie Johnson is GOD on piano, 60 years.....

  • There is no better female singer alive.....but its not her voice...its whats behind it.. .... SHE SELLS IT.....with raw emotion she lives the song she,s singing...AND YOU BELIEVE IT...............Check out her version of...." NEVER MY LOVE ".....AWESOME.

  • et apres ,,,,que reste t'il aux autres????????

  • It's probably said before, but Beth Hart is inspired by this lady. I discovered Etta through Beth's music

  • amazing

  • damm that voice's powerful!

  • I do not know where she is bringing this funk from - but girl dont stop. I have been listen to Etta James for 50 years - she never sings the same song twice the same way but all just rot gut pain. Whew

  • Etta James, Keith Richards y Robert Cray en un video de estudio.

  • I saw Johnnie with Eric Clapton at the Albert Hall some years ago: brilliant.

  • pure, deep soul going on here

  • MISS ETTA , SHE SANG ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE SOUL , SHE LIVED THE LIFE , NO COMPARISON , SHE IS THE REAL DEAL .....

  • I believe this is from a wonderful documentary Keith Richards was in charge of some years back as a tribute to his guitar hero Chuck Berry. He even got Chuck's original piano player, Johnnie Johnson, one of the greatest totally unsung heroes of early Rock and Roll. Hail, Hail, Rock 'n Roll was the name of the documentary, I believe.

  • The most beautiful soul on earth, Etta James.

  • chuck berry at end?

  • It doesn't get any better, no where.

  • waaaou que voz !!! y que pianista !!

  • etta honey you still rule!!! some skinny thang like boyance can NEVER top you!

  • @dakotacrumpler Etta show nuff rules but Beyonce aint skinny. baby girl can back that thing up and Etta can too!

  • what a beast, check out my 26 best blues and jazz guitarist"s video, click on my name, its the only video.

  • what does hoochie coochie mean ??

  • There are no words to describe the power of this performance.

  • le dio el medio orgasmo a chuck

  • WOW!

  • Wow ...

  • Unbefreakingleivable!!! This is what it's all about - that third verse is sung to perfection. The guitar solo could be a bit stronger, but my goodness....why can't women sing like THIS anymore? Sick of this airy girly pop.

  • @TinaRocks19 whats a mess is that Etta was ripped off,she had to keep werkin` til late in her years,in those days you either signed the producers` contract or you didnt make a record ,period! sad, sad, and such talent ,she was real cute when she was young, like most african-american women they dont age on the side of beauty

  • @PAULOcbi Excuse me? Her beauty might be found in her voice, which has only gotten richer and better. You must be a young man, to say something so crass.

  • @linneasr actually I`m a fan of Etta.Huge.Oh I get it, you dont like the fact that most african-american women dont age well??! Take it up with God or whoever ,not me.YouTube is for commenting on videos not commenting on other peoples comments. What are you looking for friends??Fawkin` loser get a life. Dont rEply either

  • @PAULOcbi hahahaha, i dig it i dig it! I am mixed, but in my experience white women age earlier and dare i say, worse than black women... but this is why i love ETTA so much! Born Jamesetta Hawkins. A mixed girl herself and who cares. When the soul comes over you? You share it with the world, SIng your song Etta! You better sing! :)

  • @bluessiren78 thats funny ,I`ve been around the werld twice, and while I agree that there are some stunning lookin` black women ,they are usually under 40 years of age,and as for women over 40 ...well honestly there are some handsome over 40 WW,but a handsome over 40 BW?? I think I`ve seen a handful in my whole 41 years.Anyway its irrelevant ,except in the concept of genes.

  • @TinaRocks19 Keith was no blues player. Clapton must have have been having a smoke break

  • I love crazy brotha man goin off in the background

  • awesome! Ilove her singing.

  • Fan-freakin-tastic! Wow! Who else thinks this was awesome?

  • Gotta love the old Mesa Boogie Mark 1.

    Fucking great amp.

    great song too.

  • 6 minutes of goosebumps... man that was awesome...

  • Awesome Etta... Lovely Keith... Thanks, roosboom

  • Diva sempre diva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This collaboration is genius. Blues is so amazing. Etta James is unparalleled.

  • This is ART!!!!!!!!!

  • jOHNNIE jOHNSON'S GOT SOME STRONG HANDS. iF THERE IS 1 BURGER LEFT , unless Etta wants it, he's takin it

  • Steve Jordan is such an amazing drummer!

good ol chuck drunk as hell...

  • Wow. That last verse is just how you sing a song! No autotune there!

  • i would soooooooooooo like to be there, i mean, imagine, the combination of musicians, the atmosphere, oh my god !!!

  • damn i need a whiskey and a cigarette after this one

  • @mowsiany Top comment !!!!!

  • thank you god one ...

  • name of the piano player any one ???

  • Johnnie Johnson

  • @roosboom ...wasn't he ALWAYS Chuck's piano player?

  • @roosboom The reason Chuck is Chuck. Notice all Chucks recorded stuff with him is in b flat. Piano/horn keys. You think that isn't significant??

  • @megacromos -That's the immortal Johnny Johnson...Chucks' original piano player. They had fallen out. Keith hunted him down for this project. One of the greatest ever!

  • @swiggy58a man plz explain me how yiu know that pianist and how u heard of this keith project ( if u got that time, would really be so nice to me) ty c u

  • @SaTaNHusSseiN I've been following this stuff for years, uh "SaTan". Got hooked on the Stones in 1970 when I was 12.; on the Sticky fingers LP. (8 track, actually.) I was a budding guitarist-musician. Soon figured out that it is People, not publicity or record companies....who make music. So every since, when I hear something I like, I find out who the players were. When I read an interview where Keith mentioned Muddy Waters or Johnnie J. and I didn't know that person...I would seek them out.

  • @megacromos SURE WISH I KNEW--BRILLIANT~!

  • Awesome

  • music is my only true love

  • this is a historical gem omg

  • Etta's voice is better than any guitar! She is unique.

  • Happy Birthday, Etta!

  • Since no one else is paying attention, I am giving a tribute to the incredible, unique ETTA who winged that spot after taking a looong flight, sick with the Flu and totally improvised. GO GIRL!!

  • As popular as the fender strat is,i just cant love it as a guitarist, sounds so thin and fiddly to me!!!!anyone else???

  • @onlyjoetee But surely the versatility of the electric guitar lies in the fact that the guitarist can use a variety of amp settings and effect pedals in order to alter the tone? - And on this occasion, Keef chose not to. I know what you are saying, but on a fender played clean like this, there's nowhere to hide. You wouldn't want to accompany someone of the stature of Etta James with a "crunch" tone through, (let me guess?), an overdriven Les Paul on a historic session like this would you?

  • yea, but you are listening to two guitar players that are plugged straight into the amps with out any distortion pedals.

  • @onlyjoetee You just ain't playing it right. You either can or you can't.

  • Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder,no doubt!!ha ha ha ha

  • thanks 4 post awesome
