  • I'm planning to make control (and possibly make or rebuild) an inverted pendulum and double pendulum (or rather an articulated pendulum, because one guy had two SEPERATE pendulums on the one cart). I've got a good model for the single, plus a control system, but I've been trying to work out how to control the double pendulum and it's tying my brain in a knot. I hope I can work out something good!

  • my supervisor asked me to make one of these for my graduation project...i said heck no!lol

  • never seen that before. is it like balancing the rod? cool

  • ever seen a segway? Think that has the same principle.

  • *poke poke* :D

  • You haven't visited the "world of science and math", have you. Since that world started being explored (or built/invented, depending on how you look at it), heaps of new inventions that have made our lives a lot easier have emerged. Some inventions are harmful, but they made the job a lot easier for the person using them, all thanks to "use less" science. I'm sure this is something we can all use in the future somehow. Otherwise no scientists would be building them at this scale. Thumbs down. :P

  • Think Segway.

  • that thing is ridiculous...although useful for people that have to walk more than 10 miles

  • or old ladies who have no other way of going grocery shopping besides walking...or not at all.

I think it is a wonderful solution to so many problems....the only issue with the Segway is that others don't see it that way.

  • applesnake78 - please try to come down before posting.

  • hey u dumb fuck, this is applied for stabilization of missiles and vertical rocket launches, the propulsion makes the rocket unstable, so that's what u need to do for this. u're useless. got some brain ?

  • it actually is a great life.

You can feel big pleasure by achieving that!

And engineers are the people, who we need for solving different problems on the world.

Dont try to tell me you dont use the advantage of this technology.

What are you doing right now?

You are using a computer. So you better stfu and "think twice".

    -Engineering rulez-

  • I actually did the control system for this setup at university (mechanical engineering)

  • it has a hemi

  • is it a pendulum with a hemi engine? ^^

  • sounds like a V8

  • "Could've had a V8!"

  • Very nice, check out our "Proyecto Equilibrista Electronica ITCR" based on the inverted pendulum

  • use higher pwm frequencies to reduce the noise

  • thank you for your suggestion. But its totaly analog control signal. it has only linear power opamp for driving. That sounds depend on my control objectives. if i decrease the bound of the h2 norm of the system, that problem completely disappear.

  • What the Fuck is that noise? Sounds like you have a resonance somewhere.

  • give it a smack! seriously - what sort of control are you using?

  • great!!! thats very impressing!! I'd like to learn more about this amazing gadget!! any further information?

  • you can easily find at quanser. But if you interesting in control algorithm, its little bit difficult to explain in here.
