This man is a rude, arrogant know it all who doesnt know as much as the average sports fan at the local hangout. He has been blessed with fame and riches (though his fame isnt quite at the level he himself percieves it to be) for sitting on his ass>. He takes more days off then congress ,he is completely unappreciative to the sports fans who have buttered his bread! Yet we continue to tune in .We (the fans) created this bloated beast, turn off our radios and starve him out of exsistence!

@Ryan1111111able - Mike Francessa knows "all sports"? Are you serious? Mike knows baseball very well. He knows a little about PRO, as in, NFL football. He knows jack shit about NCAA football, both pro and college basketball (except St John's and a few Big East teams), hockey, boxing or tennis. He is a terrible solo sports announcer. We need Doggie back bad.

@1000diesel compared to a guy like stephen a smith yes.....Smith is just a inside source guy..he;s tight with some NBA players...he doesnt now shit about anything outside of the NBA...Francesa knows all 4 major pro sports..And Francesa knows the NFL and MLB inside and out..plus he does know his college hoops
Francesa worked for CBS covering college hoops before he knew every stat of every division 1 team..maybe he doesnt follow anymore but Mike knows all sports

lets start by Hughes having better numbers in relief than joba, why doesnt he say the same about hughes? A lot of rookie starters go through growing pain, but he cant seem to understand that and the fact that joba had so little time to build up his arm in the minors since he was rushed through all the levels, unlike hughes.
Facts are facts, theres no stats that give francesa any credebility on his stance about joba being a reliever when hes always been a starter

you do know when this occured, Hughes wasn't an established reliever yet.. right? Francesa's credibility was that Joba was a phenominal setup man... he was nearly untouchable. as a starter, his fast ball tops out in the low 90's on most nights, and he has shown awful control. if joba blows up and fails next season, then that is that... he isn't a starter. but francesa's point at the time was that joba was helping the team more in the pen than he was in the rotation.

@YankeesWorldChamps27 out of the pen or as a starter his fastball has dipped after he came back from the injury, it has nothing to do with him being a starter or reliever. All Starters go through growing pains, so u rather give up a potential starter because hes going through growing pains? Joba as a starter has better numbers than johan when he started, and roy halladay was sent down to low A ball cause he needed more time and they have turned into good starters so why does fatcesa say he cant?

I remember watching this when it first happened...I was like...mike really gave it to him.Still i do agree with Mike,Joba belongs in the bullpen where is is more affective and can become the best set up man in the majors..I was never a fan of them making him a starter.
