I have long been a fan of Gismonti's music. I just wish, that more people in Australia were aware of this beautiful artist's rare talents and musicality. Whenever I loan friends a CD of Gismonti, they always come back and tell me how heautiful it was and how much they enjoyed it, but I wish he had a [seemingly] greater recognition than he has here in this country. Gismonti, your music is beautiful. I hope you come to Australia!!!!

Gismonti's music impressed and enriched me so much, especially in my late teens... so that I've composed a piece for guitar dedicated to him and Nana Vasconcelos when I used to listen to Danca das Cabecas hundreds times (but Debussy was also a big influence). I would be very happy if someone who likes Gismonti's music in general would give a listen to this piece of mine and let me know his/her opinion: the title here on YT is HOMAGES N.3 A EGBERTO GISMONTI NANA VASCONCELOS (IL NAUFRAGO) (1985)

Eu morava numa cidade do interior paulista e queria muito o vinil dele, o Circense, mas a única lojinha da cidade não possuía, nem mesmo o dono conhecia Egberto, na época (1979). Enfim, ele foi pra São Paulo, na Hi-Fi, e trouxe o único disco da loja e que tenho até hoje! Boas memórias. Egberto é eterno. Um abraço, e concordo com vc. Ele, realmente, está se lixando com os mass media.

@hoskeebo He ( and Airto Moreira, Sergio Mendes and a lot of fantastic brazilian musicians ) is not popular because, unfortunely, in my country, "culture" is something that only a few people ( with money to pay for the best schools ) can have access. And that's the way brazilian government wants it. Sad, very sad...

@jerahdelvalle - There are many people around the world that are amazed with brazilian music and incredibly talented musicians,including myself.I watched this gentleman ,a few days ago at the concert ,here in Zagreb/Croatia, along with his son and enjoyed it from start to finish.It is hard to find a musician for whom it is difficult to tell, whether it is more a virtuoso on the piano or guitar ? Also,he's a world famous composer too.Brasil is a full of musical treasure !
