@Kkyyrruu I never gave it much thought until you mentioned it...But I think we all rode in Robins seat. Oddly as well Burt wards Autograph wasn't on the instrument column though...West's Numar's & Craig's were though.
@Kkyyrruu I don't think he refused...He dosn't do Cons & car shows & such as much as the other actors/ Actresses. he may just have never crossed paths with the Batcopter.
@tubewatcher77 It doesn't really matter. It is the EXACT same one that was used in that film. all the wings did was drastically hurt the flight characteristics. :) It's had a lot of Upgrades since then as well. It also covered the 1968 Superbowl & was used on Lassie. Back then the chopper top ended at about 60 MPH, now it does about 100MPH and is night capable. All the "Nose Bat" did as well was obstruct the pilots view. I showed LH the film that night & she thought how wierd it was to ride in:)
Nice vid SuperHero! It didn't look like he let you jack into his intercom. Would have been interesting to see if your modified flight helmet still worked.
It sounded a lot like that thing has a turbine in it instead of a Lycoming... Did he swap the original engine out?
I also saw more instruments on the pod, I'm sure for it's commercial rating. Big honkin' red-knob lever on the side of the pod... Any idea of what that is for?
Impressed with your chopper knowledge, But no this one is a "G" model & runs on Avgas. The "T" was the one with the turbine & Bell didn't make may as they were not popular. And yes it's been VERY modernized and is even night capable nowdays. As for the big lever? I should have asked Eugene, but a wild guess is "Rotor Clutch"? IDK
I just asked a Bell 47 Pilot & He has no idea what that handle is! I will email Eugene (The owner) & ask, like I said this bird has a LOT of mods. Also My Moded Helmet would have worked just fine, I just change adaptors. But the intercom was broken so there was no point :(
AND it was built in 1964! But never sell a bell 47 short. They were the workhorse of the Army during the Korean war and brought many wounded troops to Safety (See M.A.S.H.) They even saw limited use in Vietnam before being replaced by the OH-6. This paticular one was also used in Lassie & covered the 1968 Superbowl
OMG so lucky! If I was there I would of got to ride in Robins place >: D

Just watched the 66 film. But some details are missing on this copter. It has no wings and the bat-silhouette at the lower front window is missing.

You are a braver man than I. That thing looks like it was put together with Popsicle sticks and duct tape.

No, they are built with steel tubing, aluminum skin, and plexiglass.
Popsicle sticks and duct tape is what it takes to keep them flying! LOL
