Biggest upset so far of the 2007 season! However, UVA has improved and will be right there in the end. Man, if Dom Starsia leads UVA to the national title this season, it may be his best coaching job yet! The 3 teams he led to titles(1999, 2003, & 2006) were loaded. This year, his team is talented but not loaded like those teams were.
I'll tell you! UVA is a great program, but it prooves a lot when a team like Drexel beats them. Don't get me wrong! Drexel is a great school in a fun city. However, in this day and age, UVA is, hands-down, the easiest sell for top talent. In fact, the biggest challenge they have is NOT to dominate.
In addition, there is another factor that not a lot of people realize. At a few of the other major lacrosse schools, there is one sport that is, hands-down, THE sport of the school, and that sport steals a lot of the thunder of the other sports. Such examples are:
At UVA, although their football and basketball teams are solid, they do not steal a lot of thunder from the lacrosse team. The lacrosse guys are definitely some of the big men on campus.

This year they are just as loaded. They have a preseason rank of No. 1 and they got 4 of the top 6 recruits in the country.

You had better believe it. Actually, according to the Face Off Magazine, they got 4 of the top 5 players:
-the two twin Bratton Brothers, who are offensive machines
-a stud defender from Georgetown Prep
-perhaps the best goalie to come out of Long Island in years.
And, this freshman class features 4 other players who were amoung the top 50 high school seniors last year. Wooooow!

Here are some reasons why UVA is such an easy sell for talent:
1. UVA is a great school.
2. Lacrosse is often a very yuppy sport, and UVA is a very yuppy school.
3. UVA has one of the most beautiful campuses.
4. It gives most of the lacrosse players a chance to get away from home.
5. Charlottesville is a great college town.
6. The facilities are awesome.
7. The girls are beautiful.
