I was detained and illegally searched after their K9 "hit" on my vehicle. I've never used drugs or had any in my truck but what happen today opened my eyes up completely. Knowing the laws of this state and country, they couldn't even answer simple questions as to why I was illegally searched. Keep up the good work!

Why don't guys just admit your protest is in favor of illegal immigrants entering the country? These checkpoints pose only a minor inconvenience, yet serve a worthwhile purpose. Since the intrusion is so darn minimal, an obsessive objection as fanatical as yours must be focused on the purpose instead.
The checkpoints ARE located where illegals enter the country. To be a valid arrest, illegal immigrants must be caught INSIDE the borders of the United States. Can't arrest them in Mexico, nor trying to enter (not illegal). Thus, checkpoints are located along, or at intersections of, major highways near (but well inside) the borders. If caught here, illegal immigrants can't reasonably claim they just made a wrong turn and/or didn't know they were inside the USA.
@stewartx5 A hundred miles from border is not a coherent location. Such a distance leaves border cities like Calexico, San Luis, Lukeville, Nogales and others open for settlement to all immigrants and outside the checkpoint area; which is needless to say, stupid. The checkpoints ARE located where illegals enter the country. To be a valid arrest, illegal immigrants must be caught INSIDE the borders of the United States. Can't arrest them in Mexico, nor trying to enter (not illegal). Thus, checkpoints are located along, or at intersections of, major highways near (but well inside) the borders. If caught here, illegal immigrants can't reasonably claim they just made a wrong turn and/or didn't know they were inside the USA.

Such a distance leaves border cities like Calexico, San Luis, Lukeville, Nogales and others open for settlement to all immigrants and outside the checkpoint area; which is needless to say, stupid. You can't say they are where illegals enter the country, knowing they have nearly 2,000 miles to cross and these checkpoints are strategically located at places where they want to establish control over the travelers. Obviously, checkpoints are not the only thing being done. Checkpoints along roadways near the border are only intended to catch those driving into the country, while other tactics are used to catch those entering by other means, those in the country closer to the border, and those in the country elsewhere. And, of course, all those supplement efforts at the border itself to stop them from entering in the first place. Due to efforts by some to undermine all this, the problem persists.
