Not only could it play two notes a once vs the mini's one, it's so clearly laid out that I could easily see how he had the Odyssey programmed even though I haven't seen one for 30 years. The whiteface Odysseys even had a clone of the minimoog ladder filter. That's why they sound better than later models.

@shelly10538 Yes, that's the sound of sync'd oscillators (one osc resets itself at every cycle of the other).Hawkes used a Prophet 5 on "Let's Go", but you could create that patch on an Odyssey also.

The white faces are ok until they go wrong. Try cutting into that resin block to get at the circuits.

theres actually someone on ebay selling cloned 4023s for like $129 a pop.. i lucked out i got mine for $150 because the filter was failed .. soon thereafter i accidently found a filter for 89 bucks.on line. i remember the day i soldered that sucker in very well. turned out to be the most productive year of my life .

my roommate at berklee got this same arp, it was so dope, badder than moog, and much more intuitive to me, the color coded sliders are easier to visualize and move simultaneously , the sounds are more aggressive and brighter than moog in general. both are great. pound for pound i'll take the odyssey.

the second and third bunch had arp filteres

2800 whiteface models have an ARP filter (4023) . MKII has the Moog style. MKIII is the later ARP filter.

You might want to look a song from a prog band Wigwam called Grass for Blades. It has really excellent ARP solo 2.30 onwards which gets moog something seeing into :)

yes.. whats the mini got? 3 oscillators and a bitchen filter..they sound nice too.. but arp odyssey? 2 vcos, AND an lfo .. the vcos can be unsynched.. annnd oh yeah sample hold.. uhm ring modulator. ok so it doesnt have a built in tuning tone.. but i think it can kick a mini's ass in more ways than just a couple..

Hahaha that thing makes some sick sounds- kinda reminds me of Ferris Buehler's day off movie- remember the coughing/puking sounds he got out of his synth? (does yours do that too?) Anyway pretty cool.
