Acer wins along with android. obviously the ipad runs. smoother it is a dedicated device to ios. when we look at android we have a multitude of devices with each seperate corporation racing to port android to their device. so android doesn't have the comfortability to sit on a product and design a is around it. its completely opposite. good review though!
iPad 2 is just a very sleek, solid device. It's thin, the apps store is very extensive and it's just overall better than anything in the market today.
It's not fair to compare both tablet to open web pages while ipad2 doesn't support flash, and a500 support. It definitely needs more time to open a web page with flash than open it without flash.
during the whole video (except that time when he was unable to open the youtube video) he bitches about the ipad but in the end he still says ipad is better. i don't get it. are we people programmed to think that what's more pricey is automatically better? to me, the acer is the winner, i don't have either but i think the acer is way better.

Acer is better. i have it and I'm starting to find out that the more you add to the home screen of it, it starts lagging. like live wallpapers, apps, and widgets. the iPad's smoother cause there's a lot less going on in there. plus i sold my iPad for this. iPad is like a larger iPod. and a bit smoother.

I have both and i like both for different reasons. The ipad has a smoother interface and better battery life. The iconia is nice for its ports and a bit bigger screen. Overall their both great just depends on what you going to do with it.
Imo google put too much google chrome into the browser on this OS. It feels more like im using touch screen windows OS rather than Android when web browsing. The rest of the software is unique and brilliant. Acer did a remarkable job in building their first tablet as well.

Ew Acer. If Acers tablet is anything like their laptops, then no thank you. Acer is known for cheap products. Though I have Apple everything, I come from a pc/android background. I had way to many problems and one day I just said I'm through. Understand price is a variable however, you get what you pay for especially with technology. I needed something that works, not a lot of constant updates, and lasts at least 4 years. So far, Apple has met my needs and I can't be more satisfied. This review

Android honeycomb, icecream sandwich, gingerbread, probably Android Vanilla Latte is next. Apple made one update this year which was IOS 5 and that's it because the quality of their previous hardware was just that good. Android can flood the market all they want but if the quality isn't there then good luck selling non-hardware computers.

@deezomaxima I had a Gateway PC. It lasted at most 2 years while getting to that 2 year mark, i had problems with it. Then I went with a Macbook Pro....no problems and going on 3 years. I had a HTC Evo...horror story and it barely lasted a year. Went to the Iphone 4..it is a phone, a smartphone at that, that works. Tablet...wasnt going to try anything else so I went with the Ipad 2 and love my products cause of their quality. So if you are mad that I am applying some economics here
@trey9386 You had a problem with the HTC Evo? Funny, because I've never had a problem with mine and it's been overclocked and rooted for a year running Cyanogenmod 7. Not one problem!!! I had the Iphone first and gave it to my daughter to use as a MP3 player. The HTC Evo was and still is better in all hardware aspects and it's been proven.

Well the force close is something I somewhat enjoy over Apple just going to home screen without telling me it crashed. Kill some apps and than you won't have it crash just like with iOS. I like Acer because it is more than a big iPod touch. It works as a computer and not a iPod touch.

Yet another biased review trying to trash the iPad. Complete BS. Also for all the biased reviews, Apple does have an adapter that allows things like hdmi out, and other things. But of course the reviews always leave the truth out.
With such a hudge price difference, far better HDMI support on the Acer, early Android 4.0 updates in January, full usb supprot for standard wirless keyboards, mouse support, game controller support (xbox 360 and bluetooth based ps3 controllers). THe current A500's and A501 4g's run Android 3.2.1.
It supprots 1080p video recording sicne Honeycomb was updates to support it. Supprot of usb storage and even external Solid state drives is a plus.

We own the A500 as well as a Motorola xoom,we compared both side by side against the Ipad 2...there was no comparison the android devices are just better all around devices.Better apps,just better in general if your tech savy.Learn to root and flash roms to make them even better! idevices seem to be more of a fanboy/yuppy product....like people who have to wear hollister to feel cool,lol.

I sold the Ipad 2 because Im a tech savvy kinda guy and my Acer was an Ipad killer. Maybe it wouldn't for you, if you just love apple maybe. I don't discriminate, the Acer just does more for "me". Quick drag files, load up and go to war. Customize and use programs like the Matrix ;-)
I already have an ipad 1 but if it ever breaks down I'm getting something like this. I haven't had any problems with the ipad so far and it works perfectly. But after seeing some videos like this you really start to realize that Apple charges a third more for half the functionality.
Now to compare the Transformer to the Iconia Tab V500/501. They are almost identical, the only difference is that the Iconia Tab has a slightly better front facing camera that is 0.5 MP higher in resolution. The only real difference is that the Transformer has a full-size HDMI port and the Iconia Tab has a mini-HDMI port.
A massive flaw on Apple's part is that all their devices transmit passwords, user names, credit card numbers, and all other personal information are transmitted in clear-text. Meaning that no encryption is used. So anyone that has even the least amount of computer knowledge can capture your personal information with free tools found on-line. A warning to everyone out there, never use an Apple portable device to buy anything on-line. You run a major risk of identify theft and/or financial theft.
Ipad is using Solid State Flash Drive vs. The Iconia using ATA 5400rpm. But I just rooted my Iconia using the Class 10 MicroSD and Overclocked the CPU to 2.1Ghz. It is still not comparable to the Ipad regarding multitasking but the speed is blowing the Ipad 2 away.
@yan5ichi well, i have the acer iconia tab a100 and i find it awesome. it even has the hdmi port, micro usb port, micro sd card slot (that can extend memory) and support for adobe flash plus there are way more customizations in it. Which iPads DOESNT ! asshole .

I have the Acer A500 and my brother has the Ipad, well used to have it. After he played with my Iconia he exchanged it. A500 is better than the Ipad in every way. NO DOUBT!
I think for someone who just wants a smooth system that just simply works, without complication, iOS is a good choice. I'm definitely more likely to recommend that to my parents, for example. For more adventurous users who love the freedom of tweaking and using their device for more advanced things, the Android is the better OS.

@Monboy46 Exactly because it is an Ipod. Apple has a lot of people fooled but it's not a true tablet. I have the first gen Ipad because my company gave it to me but I hate it. It's heavy and it hurts your hands when laying in bed and trying to browse or watch movies. 7 in tabs are better IMO.

Ew Acer. If Acers tablet is anything like their laptops, then no thank you. Acer is known for cheap products. Though I have Apple everything, I come from a pc/android background. I had way to many problems and one day I just said I'm through. Understand price is a variable however, you get what you pay for especially with technology. I needed something that works, not a lot of constant updates, and lasts at least 4 years. So far, Apple has met my needs and I can't be more satisfied. This review

Android honeycomb, icecream sandwich, gingerbread, probably Android Vanilla Latte is next. Apple made one update this year which was IOS 5 and that's it because the quality of their previous hardware was just that good. Android can flood the market all they want but if the quality isn't there then good luck selling non-hardware computers.

@deezomaxima I had a Gateway PC. It lasted at most 2 years while getting to that 2 year mark, i had problems with it. Then I went with a Macbook Pro....no problems and going on 3 years. I had a HTC Evo...horror story and it barely lasted a year. Went to the Iphone 4..it is a phone, a smartphone at that, that works. Tablet...wasnt going to try anything else so I went with the Ipad 2 and love my products cause of their quality. So if you are mad that I am applying some economics here

@trey9386 You had a problem with the HTC Evo? Funny, because I've never had a problem with mine and it's been overclocked and rooted for a year running Cyanogenmod 7. Not one problem!!! I had the Iphone first and gave it to my daughter to use as a MP3 player. The HTC Evo was and still is better in all hardware aspects and it's been proven.

Well the force close is something I somewhat enjoy over Apple just going to home screen without telling me it crashed. Kill some apps and than you won't have it crash just like with iOS. I like Acer because it is more than a big iPod touch. It works as a computer and not a iPod touch.

With such a hudge price difference, far better HDMI support on the Acer, early Android 4.0 updates in January, full usb supprot for standard wirless keyboards, mouse support, game controller support (xbox 360 and bluetooth based ps3 controllers). THe current A500's and A501 4g's run Android 3.2.1.
It supprots 1080p video recording sicne Honeycomb was updates to support it. Supprot of usb storage and even external Solid state drives is a plus.

Having a standard USB port is a big deal because it allows you to add inexpensive hardware like USB keyboards.
From what I have seen at my electronics store you have to get a bluetooth keyboard for the IPAD2 which costs $60.00.

We own the A500 as well as a Motorola xoom,we compared both side by side against the Ipad 2...there was no comparison the android devices are just better all around devices.Better apps,just better in general if your tech savy.Learn to root and flash roms to make them even better! idevices seem to be more of a fanboy/yuppy product....like people who have to wear hollister to feel cool,lol.

I sold the Ipad 2 because Im a tech savvy kinda guy and my Acer was an Ipad killer. Maybe it wouldn't for you, if you just love apple maybe. I don't discriminate, the Acer just does more for "me". Quick drag files, load up and go to war. Customize and use programs like the Matrix ;-)

I already have an ipad 1 but if it ever breaks down I'm getting something like this. I haven't had any problems with the ipad so far and it works perfectly. But after seeing some videos like this you really start to realize that Apple charges a third more for half the functionality.

Now to compare the Transformer to the Iconia Tab V500/501. They are almost identical, the only difference is that the Iconia Tab has a slightly better front facing camera that is 0.5 MP higher in resolution. The only real difference is that the Transformer has a full-size HDMI port and the Iconia Tab has a mini-HDMI port.

Ipad is using Solid State Flash Drive vs. The Iconia using ATA 5400rpm. But I just rooted my Iconia using the Class 10 MicroSD and Overclocked the CPU to 2.1Ghz. It is still not comparable to the Ipad regarding multitasking but the speed is blowing the Ipad 2 away.

I think for someone who just wants a smooth system that just simply works, without complication, iOS is a good choice. I'm definitely more likely to recommend that to my parents, for example. For more adventurous users who love the freedom of tweaking and using their device for more advanced things, the Android is the better OS.
