All'epoca era un ex-Beatle e la sua proposta musicale era filtrata dalla nostalgia e dai ricordi di tutti i fans del periodo aureo.Eppure, nel suo excursus artistico ci sono molte gemme sottovalutate e, riascoltarle ad anni di distanza si apprezza la sincerità della proposta e la naturale predisposizione alla melodia mai banale.
One of the reasons for ET"S failure-- george's unwillingness to promote it. I suspect that he saw it as another over-produced or "posh" endeavor that he usually eschewed. Here he had the great david foster arranging. Remember, he gave instructions to jeff lynne not to go too posh on his BW album--fortunately lynne went with his "gut" instincts and betrayed hari's dying wish. Harrison, like many artists (including the beatles), needed to be produced..the great extra texture is undeniable proof.
this album followed dark horse and the 1974 tour which erased any good will george had built up prior with the press and the fans...
he had really turned people off..had become even more negative then john lennon at that time.
so people were sick of him.... extra texture came out and bombed...awful orange cover and as for the tunes...you may like them now..but this album was competing against the eagles, elton, led zep, pink floyd at that time..this was third rate compared to them
@StraightTwoDVD Where do you get that Extra Texture "bombed"? It was number 11 on US billboard, number 4 on the UK charts and was certified gold. How is that "bombing" ?
