Excellent film!! I just read Dr. Grandin's book 'Thinking in Pictures'...as someone with mild autism I identified with several of the observations she detailed thoroughly. It's an excellent read!!!
This is an amazing movie, it's my new favorite. We can learn so much from animals. If everyone could see the world this way, we would be able to do such great things. Thanks for posting this video! Peace!
Great movie, Great story, I was AMAZED. My awareness of the Autistic human condition has vastly improved. We should support families with Autistic children and adult family members. Great Great message and Movie, LOVE Claire Danes - should get the EMMMMYYYY !!!
Claire Dane's performance was awesome. Dr. Grandin is really an awesome person. I love the part in the movie when the horse died and her instructor explained the concept of death to her and how her mind really grasped the concept. I wish I had that ability to see death in that way.
LaDominadora, I like the scene in the movie where Temple is taling about how the cattle don't sense and danger and stay calm right up to the moment they are stunned. She has her hand on a cow's and can feel it breathing up to the moment it's stunned and then it's just a piece of meat. She said she felt close to God when that happened. It's hard to understand death and what happens. I do believe we go to a better place than what we have here on Earth. And I believe the animals have a spirit too.
This movie was so overwhelming, although I am not autistic at least I don't believe that I am. I was able to relate to Temple in so many ways. It gave me a grander perspective on the things that have happened in my own life and how they affected me and still affect me to this day. I left feeling overwhelmed with servent hood. I was so blessed by this movie and I encourage every religous circle to include this movie into their new members class. Reaching people where they are is so important.
Absolutely outstanding! As a mother of a 16 year old autistic daughter, I applaud HBO for bringing Temple Grandin's story to life. Clare Danes should receive an Emmy for her performance! She was incredible! Hoping that this depiction of autism will educate the world about it. Hoping this will be available on DVD at some point.
Im looking forward to this hitting DVD as well. This was a terrific performance by Ms Danes. The ending and information about the real Temple Grandin is absolutely fantastic. I personally never really gave much thought about autism or the life for those with it and their families, so this was an eye opener for me. I have had that typical well...just keep going mentality, but the quote "i'm different, not less" still makes my eyes water.
I'm sooo excited to see this! I live in the UK, though, and there's no sign of its release in the media - if there is anyone out there who is wise on international release dates for this film do message me, please!
This is just fantastic, I cried when I watched the abuse she had to take, we can be so cruel to each other. No wonder she wanted to be with the cows, we can learn something from animals. Thanks for this upload and I hope Claire Danes wins some award for this, like a Grammy.
This was one of the BEST movies I have ever seen. Claire Danes and Catherine O'Hara, David Strathairn and Julia Ormond all deserve Oscars!! Temple Grandlin is a REMARKABLE person and a true INSPIRATION!!
She seems like a 1945 schoolteacher here. I could see her in front of a blackboard, placing a dunce cap on Ralphie Parker for wanting a Red Ryder BB gun.
This movie happened to be on after something else that I was watching, so I decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did. This is a truly excellent and moving film. Claire Danes was absolutely compelling.
just saw it yesterdat and it was awesome i laughed at the part that she punched the guy and the part that the work didnt fit and she destroyed it it was so funny it was awesome!
My son has Asperger's Syndrome. Saw the movie tonight and it's excellent. I cried through a lot of it but not because it's sad. I see my son in every scene and this film is inspiring.
I have nothing against Temple Grandin, personally, but she designs factory farm slaughterhouses. She is quite misguided, in that area. She says she soothes her conscience about slaughtering and confining animals because, after all, we brought (bred) them onto this earth, so we can do with them as we please.
This woman is extraordinary I am a Colorado State University student and I cannot wait to take her class as I am going for my agriculture Business degree and I cannot wait to see the movie at CSU tomorrow night!
I am almost afraid to watch this because I am not sure of how this is going to portray Autistics. If it portrays her as someone who overcame overwhelming odds of a horrible disease then I don't want to see it, because Autism has as many advantages as it does disadvantages. After living with it as a small part of my psyche for 29 years, I feel lucky to have some of the insights into the world it has given me.
Kids with autism are often "misunderstood." In knew a kid that spoke just like her; either too loud, not loud enough, too fast, too slow, and it pissed off a lot of people.
I was an extra in this movie!! I'm excited to see it finally come out. Claire Danes was so captivating on and off set. She stayed in character pretty consistently, so there was no talking to her in between takes. I'm anxious for this movie.
I myself have a form of autism, so i respect Temple Grandin for being able to take her disorder and turn it into a tool for teaching others. Like many autistics, she sees the world differently from the "normal" crowd, but she is one of the few who can express that view. God bless you, Temple Grandin.
A must see movie.
