2000 e38, 160K miles strong. Needs front end work, but still more stable at 120 mph than any car I've driven before. Everything works except trunk release pistons and driver seat heat element. Incredibly reliable.
I've grown to love the F01. At first I hated the large kidney grilles. But now I love it, it's very daring, there's nothing timid about it. This car stands up and says boldly: I AM BMW.
@KarlisKristaps For example many things....first car to read street signs, active roll stabilization, Novelis Fusion aluminum. the 7 series always introduces many "world's first" technologies in automotive industry. Not to say mercedes doesn't too. but there are many technologies that BMW has pioneered. Best engineered car in the world by the best car maker in the world in my opinion. BMW has graced the world with superb engineering.
E38(1995-2001) is the last 7 that was built to last. Now cars are built to make profit. It breaks, you go and buy new. The shape starting with the E65 (2002), E66(2006), F01/02(2009) , before those models you couls say from kilometers that this is BMW, now you can get confused with Lexus.

It's crazy. As soon as you see the e38, it just looks "right". There's no other way to describe it. Every line in the body has a purpose and a meaning, and there's nothing extra. What a car.
yeah, the "second" and "third" generation, 7-series is the best.....i really dont like the new one...its too....fat, and it looks to complicated to look at, ( if you see what i mean ) like....its trying to hard be somthing special...the others were just "Elegant".."sharp" and what a BMW should look like :)...thanks for the vid :P
maybe you are right, it got a "right" desing, calm and classy, not like next generation of 7-series
but fourth generation was so avantgarde, many journalists was saying that it sux alot, but in some years big list of other car makers use many features that fourth generation introdused in design or technology

Well, to be objective, BMW got better sales then any luxury car maker, also BMW have more recent technology in all their cars then Mercedes-Benz.
