my favourite pasta dish but can you use basil along with the parsley. what about throw in some black olives too that way can get all of he best things in one dish (olives and olive oil, garlic, chili, basil, cheese, tomato sauce) or would this then become another different existing pastadish i dont know of.
I've the exact same thing you are talking about. I grow basil in my garden and I am an olive freak. I'll eat a whole can of olive for a late night snack. When I replaced the parsley with basil and added olives, the pasta was delicious. I mean crazy delicious.
Next time you have an awesome culinary idea like that, don't ask people if you can do it. Just do it. You can add Kalamata, gaeta and Greek olives. Go for it.
@demis82 Effettivamente alcuni ingredienti sono difficili da trovare... ma noi cerchiamo di dare una ricetta che possa essere anche adattata in ogni paese, a seconda di quello che si ha a disposizione!
Why are you still complain with "but you have forgot... why don't you put this.." it's the ORIGINAL ITALIAN recipe!! If you what the italian taste do it this way!
You have completely left out chopped onions, why? should they not be browned before you add the tomatoes. also, no tomatoe puree? i'm not convinced by the sauce aswell, it looks a bit too "thin" when it should be a bit thicker. It isn't coating the pasta as much as it should.
why mix it together in that tiny pan? a better idea would be get rid of the water used for boiling, add the cooked pasta add the sauce TO the pasta and stir it like a mofo. Would be so much more effective.
@yellowsaffron I don't think it would be the same outcome becasue the tomatoes she used had the liquid with it. But if you are using fresh chopped tomatoes then i suppose you could add a bit of passata? Let me know if you try this method.
@bahmand I don't think it would be the same outcome becasue the tomatoes she used had the liquid with it. But if you are using fresh chopped tomatoes then i suppose you could add a bit of passata? Let me know if you try this method.
@AndrewS1178 I think technically Marinara originally is a tomato sauce that has anchovies in it....but in modern times you're basically correct. It seems the slightest changes in ingredients merits a total name change in Italian dishes....whilst Americans for example would just call this a "spicy marinara" or spicy tomato sauce. Add Oregano and some people would think it's no longer a marinara sauce but a pizza sauce...so I don't know I get all confused ~_~
its always with alot of sauce.its never very less which you see in here this video. the transional home first way its made with equal amount of sauce according to the pasta.
@Mastergenius00 um...I've always heard that Italians generally use just enough sauce to coat the pasta and that Americans generally lather their pasta in a soup of sauce. This version looks more traditional from what I've been hearing from Italians for years
Pecorino romano is a nice salty alternative to other grating cheeses. I like to think of it as a "seasoning" cheese. Like salt, you wouldn't eat it by itself.
I can't help noticing that she appears to add the tomatoes to oil that's stone cold. She appears to cook the pasta, but I still think that the sauce is cold when she adds the pasta to it. For one thing, when you cook tomatoes they give off a pink froth. This recipe looks really disgusting - how's the sauce going to develop any flavour if you cook it for ten minutes?
@jaybee863 Because most of us can't get San Marzano tomatoes at the local supermarket, I would recommend simmering it for about two hours and using more tomatoes (and maybe some good vegetable stock, too) so that it doesn't dry out - but then I think penne arrabbiata is incredibly boring, so I don't really think it can be improved. I prefer spaghetti puttanesca in which you add olives and anchovies. Penne arrabbiata is food for people who don't like food but don't want to admit it.
@lexo30 Apparently it's traditional to only cook the pasta sauce as long as it takes to make the pasta Aldente. But then again, in Italy they grow San Marzano tomatoes and they don't need to be cooked as long as we do here in the states. Plus I doubt the oil was stone cold...it was on low heat to avoid the garlic from burning and we don't know if she preheated it. These videos have a lot of scenes cut out
@Radjehuty I'm sure you're right. That's why I don't much like cooking Italian food, unless I'm feeling rich. If you're not able to get the absolute best and/or freshest ingredients, there's not much point in bothering, and really good, fresh ingredients are so expensive. I prefer French cookery, which is more about taking cheap ingredients and working on them to make them taste good.
@iSpongeCake I agree. If unexpected guests come to my house hoping that I'm going to cook them dinner, they should consider themselves lucky if I give them a glass of water.
@radbcc That's kind of mean. Unless you know all Americans, don't call us all one thing. I'm American and I know I'm a great host to my guests and I would never assume you're a certain way just because of where you were born.
whats the point ? it all go down the loo in the end, people should eat raw food saving time on cooking , cooking is completely unnecessary and too much effort.

TheDoctorcute 5 months ago
@TheDoctorcute The recipe involves the use of garlic instead of onion, since the latter would be sweeter, but if you prefer you can use both.
With regard to the cream, it's definitely forbidden, if you want to stick to the recipe! Just cook the sauce until thick as desired.
