  • A blue screen of death is a result of a hardware or driver error, it's a warning screen. Not some error with Windows itself(which is WRONG)

HP doesn't make that good of hardware(Source, source)

Windows 7 works pretty good. Just as good or better than Snow Leopard.

    _______

Where did I say your statements are bullshit. Or call Windows "Winblows, Winblow$, Windoze, Window$"? Nowhere.

Intelligent arguments do NOT include flaming of any kind. Did you know that?

  • @coffeeandsugar20

    > "(which is WRONG)"

No, it isn't. Actually. Windows just doesn't decide to crash. It's an error message, almost always related to hardware.

    > "HP doesn't make that good of hardware"

HP doesn't make hardware. They put it together in a box and sell it to you. They don't USE good hardware. But that has nothing to do with Windows, does it?

    > "Intelligent arguments do NOT include flaming of any kind. Did you know that?"

They also apparently don't include you.

  • @manjyoumethunder I'm done with you.

You have failed to provide evidence that Windows is superior to Mac OS in a civil manner. You're being a child by just insulting me and not sticking to the real argument, which is why one computer OS is superior to the other.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

Lol, okay. You've failed to provide anything but bullshit, and clearly demonstrated that you don't even understand the function of a stop error.

My point never was that Windows was definitively better than OS X. I said it was just as good if not better. You're the one trying to hate on Windows without valid reasons.

Nice deflecting though. "Derp I have no argument, I'll just call him out on being rude on the internet."

  • I'm proud to say that I own 9 Real Macs :P

  • You should be able to run software you own legally on hardware you chose .

    Amen.

  • @coffeeandsugar20 erm no because Apple makes the software & the hardware to make it a complete integrated package to make the user experience far superior to that offered on windows, LOL the open computer was so good as far as I'm aware in the 18 months or so they were in business they only sold about 820 systems LOL

  • @macnerd93 Apple makes their own computers, yes. The hardware that goes into the computers, however, are third party. Intel, Broadcom, ATI, nVidia, Seagate, Foxconn. etc.

These bits of hardware are designed for the OS, though. Which is what makes it a better computer. The Mac OS doesn't require a beefed-up computer to run, too. Which is why the iMac G5 and first Intel Macs will run OS 10.5 Leopard w/o flinching.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

The first Intel Macs will also run Windows 7 without a flinch. Your point? (Or at least, equivalent hardware from other manufacturers. Not sure if Apple supports BootCamp on those particular machines).

  • @manjyoumethunder Not really what I was getting at.

My point was that Mac OS don't need a high-end computer to run well, which makes them last longer.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

I know. My point was that neither does Windows. Which means that you really have no point.

  • @manjyoumethunder My ass Windows doesn't need a high end computer.

I've got an HP Pavilion computer here and I've upgraded it like hell just to make Windows run halfway decent. And even then, it's laggy. Yes, it's Windows 7, which I agree is better. However, Windows 7 still has major work that needs done on it. We don't need Windows aero. My Mac should last for at least 10 more years without needing to upgrade it for the next Mac OS.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

We need Aero as much as we need a glass dock. Or Expose, or any other ridiculous eye candy. It all uses negligible resources.

Windows 7 does not "need" any more work than Slow Leper does, ass talker. It's an extremely smooth, stable and secure operating system.

LoL @ your Mac lasting anywhere close to 10 years. You'd never want to use that ancient piece of shit by then anyway. And Macs break just as much as high end PCs (ASUS, Toshiba, Sony).

  • @manjyoumethunder Unless a UI can be developed without affecting performance, like Vista and 7, it should be kept simple.

Thanks for insulting me. Sure shows you can't hang on to an argument with facts, just go insulting people when they appear to be losing.

  • Comment removed

  • @coffeeandsugar20

I'm insulting you, because you're lying. You clearly haven't used Windows 7 at all, and you're just talking out of your ass to support Macs because you made a poor investment and need to self-justify.

And sure, it should be kept simple. Go tell Apple to remove Expose, the glass dock, Spaces and everything else in OS X, because that all affects performance.

  • @manjyoumethunder No. I'm not lying. watch?v=hvaPuKc6Kpc

You making personal attacks just shows that you have no factual claims.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

A blue screen of death is a result of a hardware or driver error, it's a warning screen. Not some error with Windows itself, try again.

Me making "personal attacks" = calling you out on your bullshit. Stop blaming shitty HP hardware issues on Windows.

Nothing wrong with Windows 7. Just as good or better than Slow Leper.

  • @manjyoumethunder You can't call someone out without insulting them? Wow.

I'd hate to see you being a school teacher. A student gets a question wrong on their homework and you would insult them to death. How classy would you be?

Let me re-write your comment in the eyes of a non-agressive person...

  • @manjyoumethunder Go find a Dell Dimension 2400(which is the same age as the base iMac G5) and put Windows 7 on it without upgrading the hardware. Tell me how it runs.

  • @coffeeandsugar20

Was it priced similarly to the base iMac G5? That's important too. Get back to me on that.

But, in any case, Windows 7 runs great on old hardware. There are videos on YouTube of it running not only on P4s, but PIIIs as well. Search is your friend.

  • @macnerd93 Subsequently, I am a big time Apple fan boy. In my opinion, making an OS that is hardware-proprietary is totally anti-competitive. Blocking Google Voice on the iPhone is also anti-competitive.

While I may not own 9 Macs, I have 3. A Macintosh SE/30, Snow iMac G3, and 15" MacBook Pro.

    Apple rules.

  • @coffeeandsugar20 well you can say your opinion I think its a good thing apple's OS are not legally on any other devices it gives proper mac users a privilege. I Have 3 Mac minis, Two Power Mac towers, eMac, MacBook white & MacBook Pro unibody :D

  • @coffeeandsugar20 Apple didn't block Google Voice, they mearly rejected the app because it replaced core functionality of the phone and the interfaces for some fo them, which is against the developer terms of use Apple clearly provide. If you really want to use it, go it through Safari, Google made it work nicely with it.

  • If you want OS 10 running on your computer just do it yourself, lol.

  • agreed

  • Anyone tired of Apple locking down every damn thing so you can only by software and other compatible products from their store.

This fight needs to happen and we should join in!

  • i wish we had cheap mac clones on the market. but not generic, illegal, unsupported ones.

  • I filed a complaint with the better business bureau, going to take Psystar down!

  • sued your ass's

  • mmmmm beer

  • Ok, seriously Psystar:

    Give Up

Mac OS X is NOT free and open source. Wake up and smell the coffee!

  • Comment removed

  • @proudlyIcanadian Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say "goodbye", never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

Actually Snow Leopard's Kernel is Open Source and according to Steve Jerbs, it's "very linux-like".

  • @proudlyIcanadian

Nobody ever claimed it was open source? Psystar bought a copy of OS X for every computer they sold. The issue was restrictions upon where it was installed, as indicated by the licensing agreement.

  • oh wait, are you saying that you don't have your psystar so that it doesn't get confiscated?

  • I'm trying to get it back, with windows 7 or something. I've already bought a mac to replace it.

  • @Version1Films uh, yeah ok

  • watch?v=v0YxyXK8i7A

  • LOVE THIS LOL !!!

  • psystar was selling pc with Macos. on the disclamer of Macos, it is clearly written that macos can only be installed on a mac. psystar is a completely illegal brand selling illegal stuff. i'm happy Apple reacted and stopped these guys :)

  • Psystar still has my broken computer, they apparently fixed it but now they won't ship it back to me. I think I have to drive to Florida from Toronto to get it....

  • Version1Films, perhaps you should look into the big lawsuit that just slammed Psystar from apple with a $1.2million fine. And the fact that they were told to not sell/fix/help anyone install or use OS X on non-mac hardware. Believe me, you're computer is gone. You shouldn't have trusted these shady folk in the first place

  • @Version1Films your psystar broke? HAHAHA oops i mean, you shoulda got a Mac

    <:+)

  • WOW, HOW GAY!!! HAHA FAGS. Anyone donate for your $1.2million dollar bill?? Read your nice little homepage now, when did you ever buy legit copies of OS X to put on your psystar mac clones?? Oh and where was that DUBL source code? you know the stuff thats supposed to be relased because you used apple licensed boot132? And main problem with your fag argument....you profited....its free software man, anyone can do it :) EmpireEFI has crushed the rebellion, fuck off mate

  • The bearded guy... ain't him Tony Soprano's son?

  • ugly men

  • damn misleading. 3 grand? what the fuck are you buying man? a maxed out Mac Pro? thats what the people who make movies like avatar use!!!! how about a mac mini for 500 or a macbook for 900. tell the truth asshole

  • I actually did buy the maxed out psystar i7 for $1500 and it compares directly to the high end quad core MacPro. I'll admit the price savings are awesome

    BUT

after dealing with psystar for 5 months now, I absolutely despise them. It broke 1 month into owning it, I struggled with customer support for another month and finally was able to ship it to them in Florida. Another month and a half later and I'm FINALLY getting it shipped back to me. Bought a macbook pro in the meantime and love it.

  • No it doesn't. The Mac Pro uses ECC DRAM for one thing--far less error prone and reliable. There are many other non-obvious but good things Pystar left out to get the price down but deliver less value. I have an 8-core first gen Mac Pro and it has performed flawlessly for over 2 years now. I'll bet yours won't..

  • @digginestdogg

Far less reliable, huh? Watch how you word things. And the price difference between ECC RAM and standard RAM is negligible, as is the cost between single-socket supported Xeons and i7s. Unless they're needed for a specific application, they're pointless.

  • Simpsons voice - "Ha Ha" *points*

  • @RoyLeeIV

Should also not that the monitor accounts for nearly one third of the total price.

  • I'm not saying you don't pay premium, fuck yeah you do, I'm commenting on the supposed $3000 in this video. But yeah if you want a Mac you have to pay the price- but don't forget the benefits which to some might be worth more than others.

  • lol.

  • They really suck...

The machines they sold were actually really expensive!

Buying a Mac gave you a lot more worth for your money.

  • haha U FAILED!

  • HAHA!!! NO MORE PSYSTAR!!!

  • Ehh, but that's the problem- the Mac OS X software wasn't built to run on non-Apple computers, so you've got your stability, speed, and reliability all being affected. There's no guarantee that it will perform spectacularly, or even the way it's supposed to.

Oh well. The only reason fanboys should argue is to either:

    1) Share the love

    2) Increase market share on their platform so prices go down *maybe*

And.... (wait for it).... Psystar lost the case! But you all already knew that, didn't you?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Well Psystar, no more soup for you!, catch you later!! (said the fancy Mac)

  • @Maxi470 Yep, its definitely a wrap for Psystar. Good riddance! Its one thing to build a Hackintosh for your own use, its another thing to turn it into a profit-seeking business. That was just a little TOO bold.

  • I am just in awe about the company and what they do period. I mean I don't knock the people who want Mac OS and make Hackintoshes to get it, but when you turn that concept into a profit seeking organization...man, LOL. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. LOL. They honestly cannot say that they did not see this coming. It was a matter of time...

  • Not only did they see it coming, they built their whole friggin business case around the threat of a lawsuit!

  • The contest was supposed to end a month ago, not a single word from Psystar. They seem pretty sketchy as a company.

  • Maybe that's because they got sued, dude

  • Thats because they are sketchy...

  • Boy, you surely said it. I mean I just don't understand man, did they really think they were going to go public or something with this company? Shameless...

  • hm i wonder if installing a Mac OS X Loader and have all the modification files in there, and install a straight vanilla Mac OS X on a different partition is considered "modifying" the OS.

  • Even if you didn't modify the OS, it would still violate the OS X EULA; it isn't illegal to install it on a non-Apple-labeled computer, but Apple have the right to stop you from doing so. However, it is illegal to violate the DMCA, which is what Psysrar have done.

  • The "idiots" lost the case? No that doesn't make any sense. The idiots allowed Mac to have monopoly so they continue to charge outrageous rates. Open source is still the best way to go!

  • They aren't outrageous. And yes, they are idiots; I'm pretty sure Psystar knew of the implications involved BEFORE they started to manufacturer and sell their products.

  • @johnsumners Maybe, but the whole idea in using Hackintoshes as a profit-seeking product is just completely asinine. It's Apple's product, spawned from SJ and the Woz. I can't believe that the really thought that they were going to get away with this. Shaking my damn head.

  • You can say the same thing about bill Gates with Microsoft/Windows, but they got away with it because the hardware and software combination defense did not exist. This is a new precedent. So for now people who choose MACs over PC's will pay more for less. Emotional arguments aside, research it. For every dollar spent a PC owner gets more resources than a Mac. If you refuse that then you refuse reality.

  • @johnsumners

The term monopoly refers to a specific market being controlled. Here, the market is, uhh, Operating Systems? Apple by no means has a monopoly on Operating Systems. Nor do they computers in general.

"The idiots" being Psystar, I assume, as you reference them as the subject which supposedly "lost a case." How is Psystar *allowing* Mac[sic] to have this *nonexistent* monopoly? Mind clarifying? Thanks!

  • "The idiots allowed [Microsoft] to have monopoly so they continue to charge outrageous rates."

    Fixed.

  • you idots lost the case haha

  • It is a specific market. I'm sorry you can't see that. Try buying a MAC clone. Like Psystar, try reading first then commenting.

  • It's 'Mac' not 'MAC' moron. 'MAC' stands for Media Access Control.

  • what u dont have caps lock on your keyboard?

  • macs suck...why do people care so much they are ripping them off?

  • I assume, you've owned Mac, if it sucks?

  • Fuck psystar. Ripping off the OSX86 community, then claiming that they "cracked" osx. bull shit. They deserve to get raped, like they have in california, and will be in florida.

  • well they looked at what OSX86 had done, and commercialised it. Nothing wrong with that.

It's not illegal to sell linux. And people do.

    What's wrong with selling Hackintoshes?

  • It's wrong, because they claim that they "invented the hacks" and "cracked the code", giving no credit to the OSX86 community, and even said that the OSX86 community is doing it wrong... Plus it violates Apple's EULA, and is violating copyright law.

  • It is illegal for this reason:

Although Apple used a Unix kernel, Mac goes beyond what Unix can do. Apple created a Eula that protects important parts of the OSx and therefore is NOT 100% OpenSource.

During the Snow Leopard release. Apple has decided to crack down on Hackintoshes, which are a form of Pirates. Yes even though you may have a legal copy of OSx, you are still a form of Piracy.

OpenSource also has policies in place, all they ask is that you be an authorized linux seller.

  • No, I'm not saying Hackintosh is legal.

You have misunderstood what i said.

It's not illegal for Psystar to sell what OSx86 did as Rebel EFI, as most of the OSx86 stuff is open source.

I understand however it IS illegal for them to violate the EULA and install Mac OS X on peoples' machines.

  • So you are stating MAC's OS is not a rip off of Unix because they added more features to it? It's still stolen. The fact is the evolution of computers in all areas is nothing but taking ideas from other people and changing things up a bit. It's a pointless debate.

  • They did not ripp anyone off. They Bought the OS.

  • yeah by violating the law, modifying the OS ,making illegal copies, anyone can offer you sth. more affordable!!! Happy that Psystar has lost the case in court and is going to be out of existence :))

  • Comment removed

  • Windows 7 ftw

  • Dude, you should be shamed... after finding out that Psystar is more corrupt than anybody thought I'm surprised you allowed Psystar to embed your video on their home page. You should disable embedding and hang your head in shame for supporting such products. They're thieves.

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :) thinking about getting one psystar rocks

  • I hear you man! People should have a choice. Remember PC Clones?

  • Comment removed

  • That price goes up sharply if you actually use the SAME components as in the Mac Pro, ala the Xeon rather than the i7. The RAM in the Mac Pro's is also ECC. It's server parts, they cost more because they handle bigger and heavier workloads, for longer.

  • @daverolo87

Apple and MS have to make money somewhere.

The staff can't work for free

  • That is why there is Linux.

  • The logo's a bit messy and the audio sucks. I do, however, enjoy Psystar's products.

  • LOL :D

  • Crooks Aka Pystar

  • You work for Apple? :D

  • You could say the same thing about all the colleges that buy Windows based PC's.

  • the guy in plaid looks like the angry video game nerd

  • Well played, well played. My only complaint with this contest is that the requirement for time was too short...

  • LOL! Psystar FTW!
