  • i LOVE the way flea introduces ppl with his bass at 1:38

  • we just dont shy away from our dicks lol

  • 1:30 WTF?!

  • "Ruby fruit jungle"

    Haha that's my new phrase

  • "A judo christian" WTF is that?

  • the term judo Christian refers two the main religions and influences of the eurocentric world. he is referring to any conservatism or religious nuts

  • @kingsomething2008

    he meant judeo lol

  • 5:20 I think Flea's sending a real message to the mass amount of people that rip off his style.

  • not really he's just telling about bands who copy others and don't come up with new sounds. Flea has been influenced by a great bass player ( I forgot the name but it's in a dutch documentary, you can watch it here on youtube)

  • I believe you're referring to Bootsy Collins. I've seen that documentary. He said "I didn't realize until just now how much I copy that shit all the time". Still, Flea is inspired by many and still came up with an his own sound. There are lots of kids out there that think the list of great bass players starts and ends with him, and therefore just focus on trying to sound as much like him as they can. It's very unoriginal and very lame, and I understand where he's coming from.

  • jaco pastorius, bootsie collins & larry graham ??

  • he's also mentioned john paul jones as well.

  • Rip off thats a fine line between, that and him inspiring people to play like me

  • thnx 4 givn me more real life footiG of my fav band!

  • its so sad!!!! all of their videos are gone!!!!

  • on all there interviews they have those small inspirational quotes or stories or advice that is actually inspiriing

  • i absolutley love them! im so glad theyre still out there makin music and still enthusiastic about what they do. we need another chili peppers album soon too!!

  • ???

  • ??????????

  • ......?

  • WTF???

  • OMG shut the fuk upp

  • !!!!??????(??)

  • wtf r u talkin about? k i have some advice listen 2 yertle teh turtle then go listen to some screamo i think u will kno the difference

  • you are retarded.

  • Wait...what?

  • actually emo was invented by a band called Embrace(formed by Fugazie/Minor Threat frontman, Ian MacKaye) back in the mid 80s, and if you truly believe the chili peppers are emo I am severely concerned for you.lol

  • @codebabe lol people actually think emo was "invented" by a single band...thats like saying the red hot chili peppers invented funk rock or Modest Mouse invented indie

  • @superskwrl the peppers didn't invent funk rock, but they invented funk fused with punk for sure.

  • @codebabe

I totally agree, but one thing:

They didnt call themselves emo. Emo, thats what the media called them.. Im citing as pissed off Ian Mackaye saying ''as if hardcore punk wasnt emotional to begin with''. Just my two cents.

  • @codebabe

    i agree.

Chili Peppers are technically a "hardcore funk" band

  • @SandyRow23x3 i consider them a mix of funk and punk. but to me Mother's Milk is Funk Metal.

  • 7:33 I so wanna see that interview! Can someone write me a message where I can find it? Pleace!

  • as great as chad is, i'd love to see the chili's play with cliff martinez again.

  • 1:59 - HILLEL R.I.P dude xxxxxxxxx

  • 0:51 man, hillel and cliff...oh my god, can't believe.

  • has anyone seen emily naked?

  • whose emily?

  • 0:14 ... best haha

  • I will always love this band so much.

  • I'm gonna' start saying that now... "Ruby fruit jungle"!!!

  • hahaha i love anthony's biology terms at 2:58 "it's kinda like a Golgi apparatus that can't quite get its mitochondria out of its endoplsamic reticulum"...he really is smart, like none of them are dumb guys they are smar....also talented, sexy and amazing...especially you anthony <3 i looove you

  • @rhcpgrace

To be honest, I have to recall my high school science books to see if he's just making it up. Dang!

  • Is there anyway you can get a hold of red hot chili peppers like on a forum or anythin or can sumone hook me up play send me a message

  • Lol I like the joke about why they covered Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder. IN ACTUALITY, they covered it because their producer, George Clinton thought it would be a great idea. Anthony DIDN'T WANT TO because he had a very very very hard time singing it.

  • haha yeah anthony is soooo sarcastic...im so glad he has a sense of humor though they all do and i love them so much

and why the hell does anthony always doubt his voice with covers like "Higher Ground" and "If you want me to stay" and even with "under the bridge"? his voice is great and even so he's anthony kiedis, so he can do anything and make it good

  • now this is a documentary not some bullshit one like others!

thnx so much for takin the time to share all 5 parts of it its awesome!

  • so funky

  • they are all absolute gods!

  • 1:38 "flea introduce this band to us" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH they're the best - only the best

  • that part just proves what brilliant fucking total geniuses they once were... I can't stand what they've become. REMEMBER: "We're kind of full of all the wonders and natures of the earth. We've come to bring love and spread it all over the land."

That's what I want out of my rock stars.

  • what are you talking about... you cant stand what theyve become???

what have they become popular, beautiful, magnificent, more in touch with music, healthier... WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with them now? they worked hard to get where they are at. you fuckin ungrateful bastard...

  • THey've become nothing more than a mouthpiece for Atlantic. You look me straight in the eye and tell me that By the Way or Stadium Arcadium stacks up to BSSM or Freakey Styley. It's not the music anymore. THEY WERE PUNK FUNK. THEY CHANGED THEMSELVES FOR MONEY. Deal with it.

  • Actually if you think about it throughout the years they have changed. But they are constantly changing, and it's something they wanted to do. Change for money? I don't think so because they had cash even before stadium arcadium. And by the way was a great CD.

  • I'm talking about the fundamental change in style, post BSSM. Alt-rock and Punk-funk don't overlap. They were making a living as a good funk/punk band, and they still have tendencies to do small funk bits, but for the most part, they realized that Under the Bridge made them more money than they had ever had before, and they went for the brass ring.

And by the way, Stadium Arcadium sucks. Hard.

  • your opinion no longer matters... i can tell your a no talent dont know what the fuck your talking about... go fuck your uncle you jew.

  • They didnt change for money. They changed as a band. It's all about expirimenting which they do just about every album. And I know few people don't like stadium arcadium. But there is alot of good songs on there. Instead of being a twat and complaining about what the album isn't, you should give it a listen as it is. I don't like song after song, but it sure will chill you out.

  • musicowned needs to check his cool, currently he's being over-matured by a man named bigdick909. I will admit that there is an audience for their new style, but i just can't reconcile their making that switch in my head without the money question. From Punk-Funk to soft alt-rock in one album is quite an abrupt change, and you need to look at their popularity and relatively, their income, as they shied away from funk rock.

  • they just changed man..dont just look at how they've changed their music on the album..but look how much they've changed as people..when they did freaky styly and bssm, they were rowdy, kind of immature, and out there young men..but they've grown and matured not only in music but as people..compair how they used to act altogether and how they act now..and youll see the connection in the music too..its hard to think they just changed for money in my opionin

  • the main reason why the chilis changed so much from californication onwards is john frusciante. during his absence from the band his style changed a lot (drug/rehab influence possibly)and his new style had an effect on their music. generally speaking, their wild times when they were younger brought them a lot of damage, so they felt like it was time to calm down and go softer. their music is still beautiful.

  • well said.

  • John said that when he was first in the band, pre-californication he was more into underground stuff didnt like solos and what not, but than when he came back he was listening to more arena rock stuff with big solos in songs. That's why he says people know of him more now than when he was on BSSM and what not

  • It's also widely known that when John first joined the band he felt that he had to fill Hillel's shoes (mother's milk and BSSM) but when he re-joined, he became his own person i.e. he had well and truly stepped out of Hillel's shadow and came into his own musically. John is beautiful.

  • he liked solos during his early years though. Mother's Milk and BloodSugarSexMagik are loaded with blazing solos. but he lost taste for them around the era of By The Way.

  • Listen to 'Turn it Again'

  • I've listened to Turn it Again many times. Amazing guitar solo. I own that album...and all their others! great stuff!

  • Appreciate the fact that some good musicians like the peppers have found a way to earn a living and enjoy what they do. The music industry is a business as ugly as it is in its transformation. If the band kept the same style than they would have no fans in today's audience. Music is written straight from an individuals feelings. Anthony, Flea, John, and Chad perform a reflection on the life they once lived in the punk funk rock drug obsessed party lifestyle in L.A. at the time. RHCP Today.......

  • Hey, maybe they changed after the tradgides of the drugs: Kedeies and Flea had the tough loss of Hillel, Jack Irons left, John and Keideis both have been hooked, John was in rehab...I would chang after all of that.

  • i think you are incorrect, they didn't go for the brass ring. i think they simply matured, and there sounds became a more melodic over time. and it was more rhythmic before, they didn't sell out.

  • Lol, dude , they didnt sell out, they evolved musically, doesnt mean anything other than they've become better. They were making good money with funk, so why would they change for cash? Just because you dont like them doesnt mean they sold out.

  • So true. So true. People are dumb, you are a wise person to recognize that man.

  • completely agree, couldn't have said it better myself. i get so fuckin pissed when people try to say they've turned into crap.....it's complete bullshit and only dumb people say it because they are too dumb to even hear the talent, quality, soul and beauty in their music throughout every year and every album

  • So true . :)

  • agreed!

  • what a great documentary :)

  • Jo taky jsem moc ráda...je těžký najít jejich interview nebo jaký koliv jiný z českýma titulkama :)))

  • díky ti za ty tytulky!! oh yea!!!RHCP forever

  • ..John Frusciante...i wish you were there..

  • 'the wonderful ruby fruit jungle known as the vagina'...anthony's great with words!

They make so much sense and people should listen to them more often - they know what they're talking about. Absolute geniuses.

  • RHCP!!!!!!!! till i die. love this band

  • is this a VPRO documentary??

  • Its a show from a channel called Much Music in canada.

  • its on extreme tv

  • anthony didnt really make sense. he was talkin about how its natural to imbrace nakedness and sex and to be comfortable with ur sexuality. then he bashed that other bass player for stepping into fleas territory and said he has half the physic.

  • yeah but i think its because the guy who got naked on stage was kinda ripping off flea and the chili peppers by getting naked and wasnt being very original with it.
