@TheSlevinCalevra ned would rather be wrong and die honorably than be right and live dishonorably. ironic considering his last act was to lie to the people to live and he still died. (not a spoiler since it happens in season 1).
Here's a question, if they ever did a prequel (and I imagine, if GRRM ever finishes the series, a prequel novel or 2 will be in demand), who'd play the young robert? My vote is Eric Bana, if you've ever seen the movie CHOPPER. A big, kinda dopey guy, who's way smarter than he seems. And determined. Bana could put on that 30lbs again, and swing a battlehammer very well.
@hameed He COULD have hired one of the Faceless Men, who would definitely have killed Dany. Instead, he got a lesser assassin to go after her. And Jorah won't be the one who will save her. It will be a certain disgruntled knight who Varys helped cross the Narrow Sea.
@CallingCtulhu Ok but "Arstan" didn't save Dany from the poisoner Varys hired. And Varys didn't know that events would play out leading to "Arstan" being relieved of his position and deciding to join Dany. Jorah saved her from the one Varys hired, Arstan saved her from one that either the warlocks or the thirteen hired
@hameed Varys made sure that it wouldn't be a professional assassin who went after Dany, just some random idiot whom he knew would botch the job. For all we know, that poison wasn't even poison but just water he told the guy was poison.
Varys was also the one who convinced Joffrey to relieve Barristan from his position, and then had him travel overseas.
Varys informed the King so an assassination attempt would be made on dany, (Varys knew the attempt would fail) so it would enrage Khal Drogo to attack Westeros. Varys was playing Robert
@dragonman14x Don't forget, that there is someone with better rights to Iron Throne than Dany. And both Ilyrio and Varys want him as a king, and maybe, just maybe Daenerys as his wife.
@MrSharpeace Yeah, but they also know they need Dany and her dragons if they want a snowball's chance in hell of reconquering Westeros...that, and Aemon thought that Dany was the "prince" that was promised, since technically dragons have no gender. Whatever, it all gets very weird....
@hameed I think how he looks goes well with the impression of how he changed both physically and mentally from the strong, charismatic Robert to this.....
@hameed he plays the late robert well, the early robert looked so differant to the late robert that even ned had trouble distinguishing them, thats why you cant imagine him riding out to war, neither could Ned.......I think the author had mark addy as his first choice for this role, probably why Addy was one of the first actors cast
I wander how Robert would react wen he findes out about Varis s secret Spoiler

Wasn't Ser Barristan supposed to be on this meeting? It's of relevance in book 3...

I still prefer "Littlefinger tells Stark to play with her arse"
Littlefinger: When you find yourself in bed with an ungly women just close your eyes, play with her arse.

Robert is right, Viserys is a fool

Robert's rage is partly because he knows Ned is right about him personally, that he's not the man he once was.

I've only seen this first season...but Ned is just plain wrong. She is a threat and she needs killing.

@canadianguy0987 Well being seen is different than doing. He still hired an assassin. I dunno, it may be revealed
hameed 6 months ago
@hameed Correctionn, he hires an assassin he knows will FAIL to kill Dany, putting her on alert.
CallingCtulhu 5 months ago
@CallingCtulhu How does he know he will fail??? He only fails becaues of Jorah. Varys doesn't know how Jorah actually feels about Dany

Why was Varys so adamant about killing dany????????? It makes no sense
