@bazerrem They are easily one of the most hated bands in the world. The gay jokes are abundant. People always bang on them; minimal respect. The Bee Gees of today?
@bazerrem Nickelback, Justin Bieber and a long list of talentless entertainers making millions can vouch the same. Money and fame can't buy you one thing though: respect/credibility.
@commatose1 If you're going to seriously try and tell me that Coldplay don't have a massive amount of respect throughout the world from fans, casual listeners and fellow musicians, then you need to re-think your argument.
@bazerrem Are you fucking kidding me??? Coldplay are the epitome of BORING. Chris recently said they are a shit Radiohead and I agree with him. They don't bring anything new to the table. They're lyrics also suck a big one. Check your head please!
@bazerrem Are you fucking kidding me??? Coldplay are the epitome of BORING. Chris recently said they are a shit Radiohead and I agree with him. They don't bring anything new to the table. They're lyrics also suck a big one.
@commatose1 Hmm, I think he'll drift back to sleep pretty quickly thinking about the 50+ awards, 50 million+ album sales they've clocked up, and their almost sold out world tour they've just embarked on. If being a "shit Radiohead" gets you all that, might take a leaf out of his book.
If Radiohead kept their music like this, I'd fucking love them. Too many of their songs make me want to fall asleep, but fall asleep with the music turned off. Too much is boring, this has some urgency, something to keep you interested. Obviously some people like boring music. That's why I prefer Coldplay, their music is so much more interesting and enjoyable to listen to. Addictive melodies + great lyrics = awesome listening. This is a great song, I just wish they'd do more like this.
@bazerrem Uh, that's just your opinion. Trust me, I'm a huge Coldplay fan too, but post OKC Radiohead has pretty much done away with traditional songwriting, and into a realm of insanely creative music. Addictive melodies + great lyrics is just awesome listening for the casual music lover. The influence of 20th century modernism on Radiohead now is frighteningly apparent. It's amazing music. Of course, each to his own. Everybody has their own tastes in music.
@bazerrem i love this era of radiohead but if they made the same sounding music the whole time it would be boring. who would want music to sound the same?
@bazerrem I gotta disagree with you. This song to me is boring. It isn't dynamic, almost sounds flat in a sense. I am constantly finding myself listening to more recent Radiohead works than older ones. King Of Limbs has so much going on, so many sounds, the songs are beautiful, and the lyrics paint pictures, tell stories. More than anything, I think you just like the mainstream sound. Coldplay is a pop act, at the end of the day. Radiohead is art.
you guys are discussing over coldplay's 2nd single of their parachutes album and lift, which is UNRELEASED. unbelievable. and yes, yellow was released at least 5 years after lift was composed, so now you know which one sounds like the other.
coldplay shouldn't be uttered in the same sentence as radiohead. radiohead is like eating a filet minion for dinner and following it down with a styrofoam cup. the cup being coldplay.
You radiohead Fangirls and Fanboys annoy me with your constant and arrogant comparison of Coldplay to Radiohead and stating that Radiohead are better like a damn elitist douche.
@LfunkeyA well it hasnt been the 90's for a fuckin long time. Maybe Parachutes and Pablo Honey had similar stripped down acoustic vibe to them but they completely forked off in different directions for all the albums after that.
coldplay borrows a lot from radiohead circa 1993-1996. just because the 90s are no longer, doesn't mean that you can't make that comparison. sure, radiohead initially sounded like the pixies but drastically changed their sound over the years, and keep doing so. coldplay has changed too, but not so much in my opinion. i'm not saying they suck, but the comparisons make sense.
@LfunkeyA.. very true, and what i think happened was as radiohead drifted far into their own creative musical world, coldplay knew they could never follow... coldplay does not possess that kind of talent. every new song radiohead does just impresses me more.
@Banged147Chicks Drifted into their own creative musical world? More like drifted into their own weird, secluded world. Radiohead's early work was brilliant (like this for example), then it just got progressively more irritating and hard to listen to. Coldplay give us a fresh style with every new album, which is fantastic.
im guessing radiohead didnt release this yet cuz they want it perfect... they MUST KNOW ITS ONE OF THEIR GREATEST SONGS... they waited for nude and a few others, too
just when i though i heard every single releashed by radiohead, i found this today. it just one of their greatest songs. imma tab the song to make sure its not forgotten
This is the Pinkpop recording. Thank God they recorded it, they aren't going to top it although I think Phil messes up in the second verse, but he's allowed to!
@SomethingRadiohead Your logic doesn't hold....They both make great music, but only one of them is great in other words? Coldplay may not be as aurally experimental or virtuoso...but they are definitely solid and better then the majority of music (esp. pop) out there........I dont think Chris Martin has the vocal power or song-writing abilities that Thom does, but they're still great in my opinion. Plus, and this may be controversial, but Chris's voice isn't half as whiney as Thoms'....
@DarkquestDeathhunter "Coldplay may not be as aurally experimental", here it is the key, I think when you got famous for your music, for your ability to play and the way in which you lead a live show, you have to find new solutions, new ways to stir emotions...not just keep doing the same music you've always done. Therefore, in my ears Coldplay were old at the third album...Radiohead still sound new at the eighth one.
This is acually a recording from a show they did, thoms wearing a yellow plastic rain cloke and has bright read hair, its not a demo. I forget what festivle it was though I wanna say pinkpop
Probably the best song that never got officially released (yet) ever. Hope that it is THIS version of the song that gets put on future releases instead of the put-you-to-sleep 2002 version.
