Trust me, I'm a huge Coldplay fan too, but post OKC Radiohead has pretty much done away with traditional songwriting, and into a realm of insanely creative music. Addictive melodies + great lyrics is just awesome listening for the casual music lover. The influence of 20th century modernism on Radiohead now is frighteningly apparent. It's amazing music. Of course, each to his own. Everybody has their own tastes in music.

@bazerrem I gotta disagree with you. This song to me is boring. It isn't dynamic, almost sounds flat in a sense. I am constantly finding myself listening to more recent Radiohead works than older ones. King Of Limbs has so much going on, so many sounds, the songs are beautiful, and the lyrics paint pictures, tell stories. More than anything, I think you just like the mainstream sound. Coldplay is a pop act, at the end of the day. Radiohead is art.

coldplay borrows a lot from radiohead circa 1993-1996. just because the 90s are no longer, doesn't mean that you can't make that comparison. sure, radiohead initially sounded like the pixies but drastically changed their sound over the years, and keep doing so. coldplay has changed too, but not so much in my opinion. i'm not saying they suck, but the comparisons make sense.

Coldplay may not be as aurally experimental or virtuoso...but they are definitely solid and better then the majority of music (esp. pop) out there........I dont think Chris Martin has the vocal power or song-writing abilities that Thom does, but they're still great in my opinion. Plus, and this may be controversial, but Chris's voice isn't half as whiney as Thoms'....

Therefore, in my ears Coldplay were old at the third album...Radiohead still sound new at the eighth one.

I have nothing against Coldplay's earlier material; I actually really love Parachutes and I think Yellow is a good song. I happen to disagree with you on the point that "this is shit."
