@Landaux When dispatching by timetable and trainorder, white class lights or flags indicated an extra train, clear (off) lights or no flags indicated a scheduled train, and green lights or flags indicated there were following section(s) of a scheduled train. The lights indicated "class" to the extent that any regularly scheduled train (clear or green) was superior to an extra train (white) unless otherwise indicated by train order or special instructions.
Nice tour. Next to the speed-recorder was the load meter. The gauge that you couldn't identity must have been added along the line, it wasn't original Alco. The GP30 engineer sure loves the air horn on the unit. Then again, so do I :)
@ashlandrailroad According to SilverStar it doesn't, but originaly it may have. In the first few clips at the top of the hood sides you can see three grills at the center of the long hood. This is the original configuration for C-420's 'factory' equiped with db's. So db's may have been removed in a previous rebuild or the grills may have been added in a rebuild to provide more hood ventilation.
0:16 I never understood the purpose of the "Class-Lights" What are / where they for? Looks like a relaxing day there. :-)

@AmtrakSilverStar I count three vents though at the top of the long hood, a sign from Alco of db's. Unless they were removed?

@thehossman1 I cant remember, maybe someone can answer this question.
