Having heard the different demos and the lousy gemini version, I can say that your remix is great!
You should have included Agnetha's "Na na na", but I understand you want to diminish the risk to be shut down again.
Also you should have skipped the sax (an instrument good for slow jazz, but it makes pop songs sound like the crappy American shit that took over after the golden European New Wave period 1979-1982). Abba should not have used it either.
I don't normally like these things, but this is brilliant!!! Why hasn't someone covered this professionally and released it! They could use your ideas here as inspiration!!
It is interesting to note that the squeaky sounds replacing the sax on certain parts sound like the SID-chip from the Commodore 64. Putting this in that context, this is not just a remix, but a remix of how an alternative version may have sounded like, considering that the Commodore 64 was released in August 1982 ;-)
@tommi200561 The simple fact it never got released is that Benny and Bjorn (probably more so Benny) didint like it in its original form. They say the chorus and verses dont fit together. The track was re-written into two different songs. 'Just like that' released in 1985 by 'Gemini' and another song that is probaly most famous for being the Chess demo 'When the waves roll out to sea' but not officially released until 2002 as 'Glom mig om du kan' in the Swedish Chess production.
They seemed to have been struggling with this song, maybe a reason they still refuse to release the finished version after almost 30 years. If they had continued with the plans to record a 10th album I've always felt it would've been a(nother) great album and swan song since ending ABBA still was imminent at the time. I also prefer their version than Gemini's even though it still was a good song. This mix is just wonderful, and frankly, what else could one expect from Matt Pop!
@electromaniac1 Just a quick point out that the planned 1982 album would have only been their 9th original studio album. 10th if you include 'Gracias por la musica'. The 10th album myth came about during recording for The visitors in 1981 when a reporter refered to it as their 10th opus. (8th studio and 2 greatest hits albums) Not even including reference to the Spanish language one. Over years it has evolved into a 'lost' or 'unreleased' ABBA album with the title of 'Opus 10'.
@discogareth Your absolutely right of course, I wrote my comment too quickly and as a big ABBA fan from the very beginning I should've thought of it, it would've been their 9th studio album of new songs. I don't think they made it that far recordingwise that it exists songs for a whole album, no more than two or so (I haven't read the book by Carl Magnus Palm if there's any information in there), so that there is a lost and unreleased album in the vaults would be very unlikely.
@electromaniac1 If you ever get a chance, its worthwhile investing in a copy of Carl Magnus Palms 'ABBA The complete recording sessions'. It is my bible! Only 6 tracks were recorded in 1982. You owe me one, I am the city and Just like that in May and Under Attack, Cassandra and The day before you came in August. The catalogue number POLS352 was alloted for a new album, but in the end it was never used. There were also plans for a live album that year. Again nothing came of that either.
@discogareth I've been reading his web page and it has some very interesting information. I'll definitely look into obtaining a copy of his book, looked into it and found that used copies at Amazon UK are reasonably priced. His book "Bright lights dark shadows" seems interesting as well. I don't have that many books about ABBA strangely enough so I really should get some of the more serious ones. There's still more to learn about them. Thanks for your reply.
I loved "Bright Lights, Dark Shadows". It does take away some of the mistique surrounding ABBA but it is a fascinating in-depth look at the rise and fall of this great band. It gave me renewed respect for what they achieved, what they went through before they got famous, and just how much of a struggle it has been.
@MattPopOfficial Then I will most definitely buy that book as well. Carl Magnus Palm seems to do a lot of research prior to his books so I don't doubt it's an interesting and well written account of the ABBA story. Thank you for your comment:)
@rustag21375 Abba are toppers, but she gives a good addition as matt mix mixes in this time, as further number remains. Therefore, my compliments for him:-)
nver heard the original one but this remix is & perfect beat is a fab as all your PWL based ones,I adore them, you should think about geting them all on a compilation cd
Hey Mr Matt, this is again a masterpiece, although I prefer your 5.31 (longer version) with the lalala’s in it.
But every ABBA track you touch makes me so happy, makes me cry and makes me happy again!! Thank you for the music/remix.
I have a question Mr Matt, do you also have the instrumental track of this/your 5.31 track? I ‘ve written some duch lyrics to it and maybe you know somebody who can sing them?
Thank you for the kind comments, very nice to see how ABBA music lives on. I decided not to use my extended "Lalala" remix anymore because it features the verses that were never officially released.
And sorry - can't help you with the instrumental version. My instrumentation is too integrated with the original track, it is a delicate balance that wouldn't work without the ABBA elements.
OMG! This is what i call THE BEST REMIX!!!!! I love this song so much and this is a super remix, thanks so much God that Matt exist in our lives to make us happy. Thanks dear friend and so soon i'll be making a new video using it! Hugs from KIKO
Anyway I consider this to be one of the most "value added" remixes of any ABBA song.

outstanding work Matt - exactly how i think abba would sound if they were still recording in 2011.
How this gem never made it as a single is a mystery - it's got HIT written all over it !

Hello Mr Matt!
You are the future of my life as the greatest remixer of them all.
Is there any chance that you could her the longer version anywhere? 10 points for this remix.
My favorite of all times with you is the remix, cd2, tell me the truth with Pete Wilson.
The intro is better than any drug known to mankind.
Question: I would love to here anything with the sound of Love´s about to change my heart (Donna Summer). :)
Thank you Matt, and keep up.
