  • fuck this, i'm finding a better video. you went WAY too fast for me man. it was good anyways though.

  • @Toog143 It wasn't a tutorial...and lol why am I watching this, I use Lightwave and blender.

  • YOUR AMAZING MAN! lol i dont even have this and im just watching a video of it XD

  • very nice. I shouldn't be on Youtube right now because i'm supposed to be working on a project

  • Can I make rope with this modelling thingythingy?

  • kool kool

  • When I try to make a texture to put on my model. It works, but after I save it and come back to it later, it is transparent with no texture. Please help for this problem. I also am wondering how to make a little movie. I model space ships and want them to move and shoot. If you have any info please help me.

  • at 2:15 how did you move the whole back? (I just tried this today..)

  • @greengrendel Already answered in the reply to abmera. Did you read the comments?

  • how do i get my model into a game

  • @cjs378

It entirely depends on the game or sim. They use various formats and file packing/compression methods. You'd get your best answer on what conversion or extra setup needs to be done on a modding forum related to the game you're interested in. I know I wouldn't be able to tell you offhand. (I haven't directly done any modding, but I have modeled something used later in game modding collabs. For instance one of my cars is available for Trackmania.)

  • @cjs378 What game are you talking about when you say this? Message me and i will tell you how, k?

  • nice bench at the end:)

  • 1:35 how does this bar?

  • Nice couch. You should put a download link in the description.

On a side note, you were inconsistent in capitalizing the names of the cushions. No big deal.

  • what have you done between 2:11 and 2:13, what are the keyboard short cuts you have used to select this blue vertex while in the move mode.

  • Holding down alt (option?) when starting a move operation. (Also applicable to rotation and scale.) Thus it invokes magnet move mode. The extra selection sets the magnet radius. Quite powerful/handy if you know how to use it. (And there are actually some variations in magnet-mode itself.) Now howabout a modest Paypal gift for the answer? Just kidding, a simple thanks will do.

  • What did you exactly do between 1:34 - 1:39? I guess you used some shortcuts that cannot be seen clearly.

  • G-key for "edge rinG" C-key for "Connect" and bevel.

In the latest versions instead of connecting and beveling, you could switch to face mode and use Inset|RMB (inset area). Similar end result.

  • thanks =)

  • Nice Couch! : D

  • I was going to complain that you extruded the three back faces at 0:30 wrong, causing three distinct extrusions to take place rather than one across the whole side, but I just tested it and it seems Wings has gotten smarter about those sorts of commands since the last time I checked.

Before, you'd have to dissolve the three faces into one, then re-tesellate it after you were done extruding.

Now I'm wondering what else has changed that I didn't take note of.

  • If paying attention, there's actually a difference between extrude [face] and extrude region. But I believe the latest versions have consolidated that command on the menu to only extrude. So now (LMB) is Extrude Region and (RMB) is Extrude Face. It seems subtle, but it's actually quite important in the workflow.

  • nicely done 5/5

  • Really awsome! :) 5/5

  • you use way to many un necesary comands and verts. The magnetic thingy you use can also be done with a edge cut in 3 and move up. Would have the same effect and is faster with less useless verts

is a trick i tought myself

  • I could probably collapse some edges on the backside. But other than that, which verts are useless? (Not really on a poly budget here, obviously.) Wings doesn't have spline style edges with variable smoothing last time I checked, so controlling smoothing to some degree requires extra control edges that take advantage of the Catmull-Clarke alogrithm. Does your method give the nice rounded shape like the magnet does?

  • yeah it does actualy

and i know you can use as many verts as you want

but i belief the less verts the better

let smooth or subsurf (or whatever you call it ) do the job for you

  • Less verts doesn't mean better. It's about balancing the information to point ratio's interpolation. Ideally you aim for the most optimised mesh, but having points to define required corrections on the smooth function of the Catmull algorithm is important! :)
