my father was the announcer for the Steelers from 1936-67. He was co-host of the 50th Anniversary in 1982 televised over WTAE, He received a VHS tape of the whole proceding and I parsed portions to put on YouTube.
@dodge96neon You forget Joe Schmidt. While not technically ever in the Steelers camp, it was Coadch Bach's instructions to Walt Kiesling to draft Ted Marchibroda. Schmidt didn't go until the 7th round when Buddy Parker made a mistake in choosing an inelegible player. Steelers talent man, Ray Byrne told the Commissioner who promptly gave Detroit another pick. Smiling like the cat that ate the canary, Parker chose Schmidt. You can read Talent Bungles in Screamer:The Forgotten Voice of the Steelers
how?..hes my...well great-uncle...but hes still family...look i dont got 2 prove anything 2 u cuz IIIII know hes my family...hes the one that showed me this video to...idk showoff
i'm showing frenchy respect. i said he is UNDER rated. how does any of that translate to me saying i don't believe that he is your relative? i honestly can care less about that..i'm just showing the man respect.
Everyone wants to know...Did Frenchy touch the ball or did Tatum in '72? I always wondered why he wasn't in the backfield alongside Franco throughout the '70s. I know Bleier was pretty good, but I've the clips of Fuqua run through NFL Films and he was fast pretty big back . Oh well, he helped them to two of their Super Bowls in '74-'75, and for that, he will always be remembered as a great Steeler.
The Steelers literally robbed the Giants when they traded for Frenchy in 1970. Fuqua was their top player during the building years, other than Greene.
