  • why is the track for my software instrument fader bar all the way down? and when i raise it to 0.0 it just goes bak down to off.

  • i cant get all the default options like pitchbend etc up please reply!

  • ok this is melting my brIan, is there any way to assign pitch bend and modulation to a controller if you don't have a pitch wheel or modwheel. (a la mpk mini)

    thanks in advance.

  • You can also "teach" your control surface to operate the parameters of FX. Bring up the FX instead of a synth, then do the click on a parameter, wiggle a knob or slider thing. Handy.

  • When I am in hyper editer, it says it has nothing to display. I want to edit a drum loop from Pro Logics library. Any help?

  • @daltonclements me 2, have you worked it out yet?

  • Command + L will bring up that automation parameter select window. On a side note though, I can't believe I never tried programming drums with hyper editor. This video expanded my mind on that haha. Good work. Subbed!

  • U suck

  • nice one dude well explained and clearly spoken :D

  • Hey David, I watch all your videos. There great help! For this video in specific it was very simple to understand, but for some reason for the last tip to setup the control surface. I would click on the es2 the click on options but track automation wouldnt show up. Would you know maybe why that's happening? Thanks

  • Woot! Thank you

  • Thanks, i have two questions, which do you perfer for drum beats ultrbeat or this, also can you hyper edit the notes you made in hyper editor, for example put some pan on that hihat noise you put?

  • Felicitaciones!

  • i love you man, happy lunar new year and may the tiger bless you.

  • Thank you very much! It Was helpful :) Good video. 5/5 :)

  • My favourite part is how he always says "I don't care" at the start.

  • Dude best vid ever! I feel like a dummy for not knowing this already :)

  • I can't find a way to make pitch bend and mod wheel appear as standard vector animation and not hyper-something?

  • MIDI stuf has to be hyperdraw...

You can open the piano roll, click on the triangle in the lower left side, and there's your vector based stuff

  • Eres genial tio!Lástima que es en inglés,aunque alguna cosa

    entiendo?Salud hermano y sigue así!

  • Necessito practicar espanol. Yo hablo, pero nada para 15 anos.

  • @SFLogicNinja Dude! This reply helped me work-around an automation problem. Not all the CC parameters i want are showing up in the standard automation menu (there are only 3 and i want to send all the general midi CC#s to the plugin.) Is there a better way to do this?

Thank-you for your videos, I been watching for a while!

    Todd

  • @hitektodd I'm looking for the same tutorial! :D

  • i really need help, i have an m-audio oxygen 49 and i want to be able to press record on my keyboard and have it press record in logic but the learn function wont work so i dont know what to do???

  • Great tutorial, thank you muchly.

  • Thanks so much for all the great videos. Getting my head around Logic was made so much easier once I discovered all of your great tutorials. I have been concentrating on beats lately and the Hyper Editor seems like it really is the way to go (especially for rolls and drum builds). Thanks again!

  • Finally someone explained how to do drums with the hyperditor, thx

  • Oh my God! I have been trying to get my Juno G to do this for soooooo soooooooo sooooooooo long! It was so simple, yet so deceptive! I think I love you! Thank you so much! 5Stars!!!!!

  • Where would us 1st graders be without you?

  • damm so thats what that was for !

thanx!! for the big help again! =)

  • Thanks as always for the help!

I wanted to start making some basic Logic 8 tutorial videos, but then I started watching yours and realized how little I really knew....

Where did you get certified? Or are you?

  • Thanks. You're a godsend.

  • so on what basis do you decide if you`ll make a beat like this or in ultrabeat?

    thanks! amazing tips!

  • mate i am loving your work! thanks heaps :)

  • you are actually the man

  • Hey David, It's so easy to understand.

    Thanks a lot.

  • you are the best teacher ever dude, you use a language that everybody can understand, you should do this kind of videos but for ableton live.

  • Thank you so much for you clear practical approach to conveying the vital tricks.

I have a question. Can you have a set of midi controls per each Event? For each note or for each drum sound, its own pan its own modulation... Also, let's say in the modulation lane, what is t modulating?

    Thank you again.

    devoted ninja ;)

  • oh thanks i never knew about the assinment thing :)

can you do what you do on garageband ?

    master pitch

cause alot of songs i do key changes but cant actually play the key change! so just shift pitch up at a certain bit

    can that be done ?

    thanks

    James

  • you are serious bro! I cant stress how much you've help me and others just learning Logic. Appreciation isn't a strong enough word for the time and effort you put in. Thanks Cuz

  • I've been experimenting with the hyper editor and set up my own hyper set for EZDrummer, so I can utilise all the specific hits that aren't available in GM.

Is there a way to have your own hyper sets as presets? Other than saving my .lso file with the hyper set in it as a template?

  • SFninja + iphone = The Perfect Subway Ride

Thanks so much for your selfless efforts.

Perhaps I can post these converted vids for other iphone users to DL and view? Your call.

    Thanks again

    Joel

  • I appreciate the consideration, J. Why the heck would I stop ya?

    *bows*

  • Well ...you can't really. :) Kidding..if you cried I would take them off of course. Please don't cry. Just make videos.

So I've converted them all and I'll probably put up some rapidshare links or something, but if you'd like them I'd be happy to send then to you so you can distribute as you see fit. They're great for iphone/ipod users passing the time on the subway. It makes you look really busy .. "sorry man...no change today, I'm busy learning"

  • can u maybe tell me what video to watch to find out about a library i can out all my samples in. order them in drums. even samples ive made my self. stuff like that. some where in logic so i can quickly access them... im sure theres a quicker way than 'import audio file'

    luke.

  • Use the 'browser'. It's the tab furthest to the right in the media area.

  • Greetings from Dublin. Just like to thank you for all the trouble you go to for us Logic learners. Logic should appoint you as their official Youtube ambassador.

  • One problem I have on the controller assignments (using a M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2) is that if I try to set one knob to cutoff and another to resonance, the last knob seems to control both params :(

Is there a way to completely reset all controller mappings?

    Also...

Logic says I must click on "Learn Mode" to complete the assigning of controllers, which I keep doing.

  • Sounds like the 2 knobs are assigned to the same controller number. here's a program from m-audio called Enigma that you can download and reassign your controllers on the O8. Also, go to 'expert' mode in your track automation assignments and you can see your assignments. Delete them and try it again, k? Good Luck!

  • Thanks man!

  • appreciate the time you put into these bro. i will definitely try and pass the knowledge along. You just threw in that controller assignment lesson at the end. Mad valuable!!! happy holidays.

    g(riot)

  • Cool!!!!!

  • thanks for the tip ninja, Im really happy now,

Can you plz do som vid about rewiring with Abelton live

    thx

  • Amazing. Thank you. Oe question: What are the advantages of using the hyper editor to draw beats as opposed to the step sequencer in ultrabeat?

  • You can save your processor by using the EXS24 and/or Reason for your kits. Ultrabeat is a bit of a processor hog. Also, This can work for sequencing beats using a third party instrument like Battery or iDrum.... and there are many other uses besides beat making. One of my faves is creating a gating effect by automating volume between 90 and 0 alternating beats. It's a killer effect. Good to hear from you p!

  • Excellent work as aways, especially the tip about assigning controller knobs. Thanks again.

  • I agree with the others in thanking you for your time during this hectic holiday season. Another great one!!

  • Thanks so much for all your hard work & sharing the knowledge! Happy Holidays to you and yours from Tokyo!

  • Oh awesome! I'd sure love to visit Tokyo sometime. I've had to pass up a couple opportunities, and always wanted to go! THanks for watching!

  • Super so good. Really got a lot out of this week, enjoyed the resulting productive session. Good times, Much Thanks.
