@ncsufan440 well I didn't really want to discuss politics but the orange represents the Protestants that support William of Orange (hence the orange color) who fought the Irish and defeated them. Gold is found in the Irish flag of War and of those who oppose British rule in Ireland, a few believe that the orange in the flag should be altered to gold. Some privatly owned flags will have gold instead of orange but the Irish government disaproves of it.
