Kane reigns. it's hard for me to admit cause im a Rakim GUY all day, but kanes persona put him RIGHT next to RA. He has the slickest tongue. medafors for days! He can say things other rappers cant say! Time has to judge him the best. hes the total package. He can flow street, slowjams and mainstream. Then he dances and his cool pimp like persona is completely unmatched! His vocal tone tops big L and thats no disrespect. Rakim is the only hiphopper in Kanes weight division! And its close!
@sna2ke i spent YEARS fighting myself over Kane and Rakim..... i had to call Kane, as u say, he has the metaphores, the flow, the sarcasm, EVERYTHING! it was one of the tuffest choices i have ever made! his name says it all....King Asiatic, NOBODY'S EQUAL!
@bluescousa IM STILL NECK AND NECK BLUESCOUSA. yOU CANT LOSE WITH EITHER OF THEM. I LOVE TO SAY KANE CAUSE I DONT THINK HE GETS HIS PROPS HE DESERVES more WHEN RA IS ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED RAPPERS EVER. ALL THAT BEING SAID THEY BOTH RUINED THE GAME FOR ME. I STILL PLAY BOTH THEIR STUFF AND ITS HARD TO REALLY LISTEN TO HIPHOP NOW CAUSE THEY WHERE SO MASTERFUL IN COMPARISION TO EVERYTHING ELSE. as i heard kane say, legend is the most over used word in hiphop, but they R truly icons of hiphop.
have been to afura's concert and enjoyed it immensely. can't help sympathising with any rapper in a duet with BDK though;) his voice/flow/persona are never equalled. on the good side, his cameos introduce music to me, which otherwise i might have missed e.g. little brother;) thanx for posting this one. peace
well, yes. with due respect to all the great rappers, Big Daddy Kane is 'my' Greatest Of All Time. i do appreciate and respect many others though - hip hop is blessed with a lot of talent/skills/heart/love/insight/wisdom/energy/truth/content/power/you name it;) peace
Relax, Big L was great and he still is but that was in his own lyrical style. He even said it himself that the game adapted to him when gangsta rap was up in the east coast as well but before that he didn't wanna get into the game because he didn't think people would feel his gangsta lyricism.
Okay, no need to tell me too relax, I'm cool. I think that lyrically Big L was unmatched. If Canibus was still rhyming like it was '98, I might give him the nod.
lol no big l was good but NO WHERE near the best/most skilled, big l didnt make enough music for him to be my fav...... i know all his shit word for word since like 5 years ago lol. and he wasnt a real g anyway, common knowledge he took things he learned from his bro and used them in rhymes... too bad he got shot up or he couldnt made some more crazy shit tho.
He wasn't a real g?First of all, how do you know, second of all what's your defenition of a g?And third of all...who cares?I'm talking about rhyming. And he put out plenty of stuff, besides his 2 studio albums he ahs been featured on tracks, doing freestyles and unreleased songs since 1990.

Kane is THE greatest of all time, above the likes of Rakim, Ice Cube, Kool G Rap, KRS-One and other legends, in my book at least.
He just needs to make another damn album.
