The problem may be that the actual good bands dont get the kind of airplay that they should making it harder to apreciate music now because the most popular stuff usualy is prety bad
There are still good bands that make good new music, but all the big wigs get first spot on the radio in the big cites. Small towns and citys have much better radio stations and also appreciate live music WAY more....and tend to be very generous and hospitable.
A fact about todays music is people get very tired of it and forget about it...as they should ,you can still find pockets of real music here and there, but the sad fact is that people today care more about how much base there is then the meaning of the lyrics. To this day I argue with my friends about real music,my words fall on deaf ears its nice to see at least a generation cares despite the fact that it is the generation that made it.
@pburgh211 and ya know what dickweasel, your music is our shit music, you are the equivalent to a thirteen year old girl that listens to justin beiber amy winehouse and other shit, becuase those are the bands YOUR kids will brag about listening to and that they can't stand the 'shit' their generation pops out.
@Pigzodius I watched something where Billy said something along the lines of "The video director had always worked in people kissing in his videos, we just wanted the Ice-Cream van idea" Or something.
Man I just watched a video and in the corner of the screen the aerosmith guy was sucking a microphone like it was a d**k, thankfully this song will make me feel much better... (AREOSMITH SUCKS)
You say Hannah Montana-i fucking punch you in the face
92% of teenagers have turned to New school and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another video. Don't let the real rap die
@pburgh211 People used to say the same thing about 90s music compared to that of the 80s, or 70s. People said the same about 70s music compared to the 60s/50s. People said the same... etc.
All musicians are inspired by the brilliance they perceive in other musicians and bands. That aside, it's a bit silly to write off "most music today" as garbage - more likely you are uninspired by most music **to which you are being exposed**. Dig a little - there's loads of great stuff out there.
@elduarphyan i used to think it was intergenerational grousing too. but lets admit it: the garbage of yesteryears are still better than today's garbage.
@elduarphyan No, most popular music today just plain sucks. I wouldn't say it's "uninspiring." It siphons your soul from you. I do think some is good, like Linkin Park, Owl City, and 30 Seconds to Mars. But really, Lil Wayne and Beiber don't really compare to the '60s, '70s, '80s, or '90s. Sorry, but the other dude was right, most of the stuff the kids listen to these days is nothing but garbage. Compare the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven to Like a G6 and get back to me.
@Smiley28064212 I consider Linkin Park and 30 Seconds to Mars to be every bit as turgid and soulless as the likes of Lil Wayne and Beiber. Your assertion is but one perspective and does not dictate what is "good" or "bad" any more than mine does.
As for the lyrics; they're different ways of expressing different ideas, written by different people and received by a different audience. There is no objective standard by which you can compare them and it's a waste of time to try.
@elduarphyan Sorry, but I disagree. You're might be right, but there were just so many great bands and artists that were around back in the day, and their music had meaning and creativity. Nowadays, popular music seems just like a marketing scheme. And hey, 30STM and LP are good, but nowhere near as good as, say, SP or PJ. And I feel my perspective is one that's shared by many. I mean, music today probably won't be remembered a whole lot down the line, but stuff like this song will.
@Smiley28064212 Just so my position is clear, my point was that the statement "most modern music is garbage" is patently false. Any lack of quality in *popular* music is the fault of consumers eating up whatever is plugged by mass media outlets and is a misleading basis on which to base any such claim.
In reality there is more diversity and creativity in music than ever before due to a wider base of influence and inexpensive production tools.
@VinDeGaul Yet again someone is picking a narrow selection of music which happens to support their point and ignoring everything else. Rap, "electro-crap" and popular music as a whole do not reflect ALL music any more than Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory reflect visual media.
Female solo artists - check out Regina Spektor and Amanda Palmer. Those are just off the top of my head, but I'd put them up against Nicks or Jewel any day.
i think its funny that you reference these as popular artists that no one knows...
i wasnt trying to say theres no good music, but the shift in popular music, i believe, was the point.
the culture itself, has seen literal degeneration, that much is apparent everywhere, especially in music and movies. nicks and jewel wrote their own lyrics, theres much depth there...
turn on the radio rite now and try it... a popular station, then post!
@VinDeGaul As I said before, the quality of popular music specifically is irrelevant. The original claim was that most modern music is of poor quality (which is patently false). Claiming "well okay but most POPULAR music sucks" is moving the goalposts. Same goes for your challenge to compare any modern female solo artist's lyrics to Nicks/Jewel - did you bother to look into Spektor or Palmer before dismissing them as unknowns? Did you check out their lyrics? I somehow doubt it.
i remember when i was 12 this was the the first album i bought fuck i was a cool little bastard back then, bit of a loser nowadays though unfortunately.
late 80's into the middle 90's were the best years to be a kid in America. The people, the music, the police and even our parents were cool then. These days its just a wash of crap, lies, distraction and garbage. 98% of the Artist these days are pawns and sheep to the Illuminati and NWO.
i was born in the 90s and being born in the 90s songs from smashing pumpkins, sublime, jane's addiction, etc were always playing on the radio so i grew up loving them and now i have eternal love for 90s songs/bands
@7ChaosBlack Wrong, I wasn't trolling, I was a part of pop culture in 1993.The Alternative Rock genre was ushered in to replace Rock n Roll. The RnR generation turned off.The new generation got into Hip Hop or going to underground raves. This was for dorks who got picked on in school. My channel is blocked bc I use it to make personal notes lol. I could careless about winning or losing with you or your considering me anything. Like most of the ppl here if you think this is cool then ur a dork.
i was born 93 , experienced little bits of 90s magic thanks to my dad, hed play this music to me , wish i was older tho in the 90s to appreciate it more
I went for my license two days ago, and my mom told me to be really relaxed and think of something relaxing. So I thought of this video, and I remembered how Billy drives at 1:32 . I started driving like that, and the cop who was giving the test gave me real attitude. He told me "Out of the car NOW!!!, You're done buddy!". I failed my test. He was so mad, all I could think is he's gonna taser me.
@MrKittytoenails That'll teach you to be counter culture when you should have been Adele. Straight, narrow, uninspired and MOR wins the day with the DVA
I was born in '90, and things WERE way more simple back then. This video brings back so many memories of my childhood. I remember going to the beach with my family, riding in the back seat of my mom's car, listening to this song on the radio. No Lady GaGa or Lil' Wayne. Just good music, and good times.
@kushstein i want born in 89 so i know what you mean, back when it was cool to be yourself and listen to what you want without asshole messing with you
@satansaudio666 Perhaps that was because you were kids ?? I was 19 in 1990 & while there was some truly brilliant music then, life certainly wasn't all sweetness & light
@lilymacsification Well, I'm talking about England.......In the early 90's the Tories were in power, Thatcher was still Prime Minister, there was an economic recession, there was high unemployment, the final government owned services like coal & rail were sold off. A lot of people were pissed off with the Tories - there was a mass riot in London when they tried to introduce the Poll Tax. There was also the first Gulf War & IRA bombs going off in London.
I remember the 90s rather well even though I was kind of young but I remember jamming out in my aunt's room to Nirvana & Smashing Pumpkins all day. This video reminds me of the ice cream man that used to come around the neighborhood around '95 and we all called him Joe. This video brings back so many memories of my childhood.
I'm glad that I was at least was born in 1993. I feel sorry for kids born after 1999. I first heard the Smashing Pumpkins when I was like 5. Back then you didn't have to change the station because of a song you didn't like, because all of the music was great.
I think I'd sell all of my vital body parts on the black market to be able to see the original Pumpkins line up of Billy, D'Arcy, James, and Jimmy. Yeah I would, especially if it took me back to 1995!
I Love this Band ...If I would record a soundtrack of the 90s this song would be on it!! I dont like sounding like my dad - but somehow the time between 88 and 95 came up with the best Music ever!!
I was born in 94, all I can say I remember riding in the car listening to The Smashing Pumpkins, Creed, Nirvana, Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. Now I'll be lucky to hear even one of their songs on the radio. I miss the days of old when I could hear them constantly.
Fuck EMI and their bullshit. I wonder if they realiz more people will get into the songs they block if they would leave them on. Fuck you EMI. I WANT TO LISTEN TO CHERUB ROCK IN MY OFFICE A-HOLES
Isn't it great that a song about suicide can be so uplifting? This reminds me of watching MTV in back in Junior High when they actually played music videos.
@SuperPimpcane LOL as if you had multiple childhoods to make that comparison. but yes, being born in the 80s to fully experience the 90s was real cool. sadly, i kinda liked the world before a mainstream internet.
@illuminatioracle I miss the pre-net days, when you actually had to talk to people, interact...But I won't lie, DooM online was my life...Until Columbine, anyway. I miss those days, pre-school shooting. When the biggest worry you had was "Am I gonna get a wedgie?!" And what's sad is, half the kids in school today have no clue about anything like that, but guns in school are alarmingly common now...
@ThePremiumsolo il fight you for how badass the 90's was omg it will never be as great again i could freak out its so depressing i think the 90's ending was the reason fo columbine!

I was born in '90, and things WERE way more simple back then. This video brings back so many memories of my childhood. I remember going to the beach with my family, riding in the back seat of my mom's car, listening to this song on the radio. No Lady GaGa or Lil' Wayne. Just good music, and good times.

@kushstein i want born in 89 so i know what you mean, back when it was cool to be yourself and listen to what you want without asshole messing with you
satansaudio666 6 months ago
@satansaudio666 Perhaps that was because you were kids ?? I was 19 in 1990 & while there was some truly brilliant music then, life certainly wasn't all sweetness & light
lilymacsification 6 months ago
@lilymacsification possibly. may i ask, how bad was the 90s in adult life?
satansaudio666 6 months ago

@illuminatioracle FUCK YOU
SuperPimpcane 7 months ago
@illuminatioracle I miss the pre-net days, when you actually had to talk to people, interact...But I won't lie, DooM online was my life...Until Columbine, anyway. I miss those days, pre-school shooting. When the biggest worry you had was "Am I gonna get a wedgie?!" And what's sad is, half the kids in school today have no clue about anything like that, but guns in school are alarmingly common now...
AngelsBreath84 6 months ago
@AngelsBreath84 It's sad that kids nowadays click the blue diskette to save a file in Microsoft Word but they don't even know what it is...
