if blacks knight took the pawn on e4 when it was undefended, all white had to do was move the rook over 1 space 2 the left and white would gain the material back and have a better position.
Jrobi, You play on FICS, they offer Fischer Random, any chance we can see some vids of you playing that? it would be interesting the analysis without opening theory.
When ever I try to send my email it says that "the host SMTP could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly". What can I do? I would like to help out.
jrobichess do you think anyone can become great at the game - master level anyway just through study, or do you have to be a very intelligent person first, that a great mix of ppl start the game but the ordinary ppl drop out as they don't excell and only highly intelligent people are left to take the spoils
As much as I sympathize with Mr Kavalek's situation, I simply do not read the Washington Post, nor do I ever intend to start. Is that really fair for me to go begging them to bring him back?
You should check out his online chess columns, they're quite good and definitely worth adding to your online chess browsing sites. There's a link to one in the comment section.
Hi i just want for you guys to reconsider your cancellation of grand master kavaleks and to let you guys know Hispanics do care about chess not only sensationalism or shocking news
and i believe its only healthy to offer a wider variety on intelligent new and or topics to chose from.
they were playing Ruy Lopez (spanish) and for so many years people have looked at how to prefect it (I think over 500) and they have realized that it would be a bad move if he did
That's cool norb1937 - to check out what Mr. Kavalek's article was like there's a link in the comment section to his last one. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Hey JRobi, I'd like to help but I'm French and don't think I my email would be relevant. I was just wondering : Kavalek is almost 68, maybe the decision of the W.P. was linked to his retirement ? I do agree : to keep a chess column in a journal is great (that why I'm buying mine), but maybe this is Kavalek's own decision ? If so, they should hire somebody else, for sure.
According to the New York Times online article by Dylan McClain that I read, a source told Mr. McClain that the decision was primarily economics unfortunately.
Can someone help? Whenever I sent a letter to the Washington Post it says that the sending was failed and that there was a problem with the connection. How can I fix it? Please, they must hear our voice!
I will make new videos for the Pincer Attack when improvements are found on the line ideas covered in the previous video. For openings it's going to be the Sicilian Defence moving forward as I study the various variations and lines. Thanks for watching this vid!
I am sure he wouldn't have any trouble writing for another chess publication, however, it would be great to have him back in the Washington Post. I am sure his writing attracted a lot of new people to the game that might not otherwise be exposed to what chess has to offer.
maybe he should write for other papers more worth readin, its always sad to see the media becoming more and more dull.

Just mailing to let you know that i am disheartened to hear that you
have put an end to Kaveleks online chess column. If there is anyway
to reverse your decision i strongly urge you to do so. Kavelek is a
fantastic author and comunlist, and he will be missed."
basically copy and pasted form your mouth, but there it is

It would probably be better if we all wrote our own . . . it would look more like genuine concern if we took the time to word it ourselves.

I am not one to say this or that on this issue, but I honestly think you can attain the level of expert through diligent study and practice.
Being smart does help, but at the end of the day, it's the diligence that pays. Remember the rabbit and the turtle.

Wow... Karpov losing 3 pawns down... heck I am only 1200 and can only do that to people under 1000
PoketoMtg 2 years ago
Just ask the washington post if the reason that they canceled the column is because mostly black people read it. maybe that will get to them.
thechessstick 2 years ago
I'm completely with you, Jrobi. All the way.
cataphracts123 2 years ago 2
Why doesn't black take the pawn on E4 in the beginning
AndyMH182 2 years ago
they were playing Ruy Lopez (spanish) and for so many years people have looked at how to prefect it (I think over 500) and they have realized that it would be a bad move if he did
PoketoMtg 2 years ago
@AndyMH182 it doesn't win the pawn and loses a tempo and maybe the knight
drizztman101 2 years ago
Black can take the pawn on e4. The opening then becomes and "Open Ruy Lopez" . It is just a matter of choice.
thechessstick 2 years ago
hehe the ending of that clip was priceless. =)

So, Washington post stoled/took GM's online chess column?
Any reason?
TheRoopeKonna 2 years ago
No - he wrote for them for many years and they recently cancelled it.
jrobichess 2 years ago
That's completely idiotic.
Really, cancel a popular chess column which is writed by a GM? Scumbags.
I'm going to email.
