I don't think that there's one factor to this problem. Most of these countries were created by their former colonizers and most of them became independent in the 60s. They have a long way to catch up to the West. Remember, Western countries endured bloody civil wars and major wars to be where they are today.
If you were to ask me what nations in the muslim world were the least muslim-ish (if thats a word). Then those three would be on my list.

The thought is, if Somalia is geographically under Saudi Arabia and other oil producing Gulf States then maybe Somalia shares the same qualities of producing oil. I'm guessing that if there are any lobby for America's interference in Somalia that it would come from the oil firms and I bet they still have the contracts they made with Somalia's last ruling president.

Whatever - the US is winning decisively in Iraq, Al-Qaeda is all but crushed. Even the Iraqi sects that used to fight each other are now allies with the US. In Afghanistan, the US and Pakistan are working together to crush Al-Qaeda. Who cares if the Ethiopians pull out of Somalia? It's a fucking shithole - no strategic worth, no minerals, no nothing. It's no wonder the US has abandoned fighting you people - there's nothing to gain at all!

Haha - we haven't lost in Iraq. We have gained the support of the Kurds and Shiite Muslims - they are attacking Al-Qaeda all over the North and SOuth of Iraq. Have you heard of the Awakening movements? Groups of Muslims sick of Al-Qaeda that brutally attack them all over. Also, not only do we have the support of most Iraqi muslims, but we have killed a good 90,000 of the fuckers since 2003, and the number in Afghanistan is rapidly rising.
