I am sooo happy i found your page... I am moving to Vilsek in about 3 months and i am in a panic mode to try and learn as much german as I can... You are great thank you so much....
it`s an excellent way to learn, wow congratulations,!!! :)... are you gonna make more lessions? cos there are only 27 and I´d love to learn more aboit this language :) i hope and answer.. :)
I thank you for these videos. One comment I would like to add is, that during the lesson 1 in the dialog; "wie geht es ihnen?" was used as formal (I say so, because "guten tag was formal too, and was used with it) , but herein, the text shown in the blackboard let us see it is informal. I feel a little confused because of that. But do not missunderstand me, I find this very useful and makes everything easier. Thank you again!
hallo eva! zu erst, das machst Du soweit ganz gut. ...aber schätzchen, bitte, bitte, versuch mal nicht "wood be" sondern "would be" zusagen. ...und dann ist da noch eine sache: entspann dich! du scheinst sehr aufgeregt zu sein. das brauchst du aber nicht, stell dir einfach vor "du gehst grad nen paar neue schuhe shoppen", ok? ab und an würde auch ein lächeln nicht schaden, weil du sehr ernst rüberkommst. (oh man, warum hatte ich nicht so eine scharfe deutschlehrerin?!?)
@jox3h that was a bad example, its a very fast way to answer. not exactly correct but its okay. just say ich komme aus berlin, thats the right sentences
I think at the beginning of this video (and also video one) the formal and informal versions are reversed. At 1:39 it says that Wie Geht es dir is the FORMAL and that Wie geht es Ihnen is the INFORMAL. In fact, it should be the other way around, correct?
I enjoy your videos and they are helping me learn some basic german to reinforce what I am learning in my class. Thanks.
@reno17420 do you mean "wie heißt du" which corresponds to "what's your name"? the reason is that you can never have perfect equivalence between two languages, that's why you can't translate such fixed expressions word for word from one language to another. In this case the German "wie" corresponds to the English "what"

1:44 I think is backwards, you wrote Wie geht es Ihnen? as informal and Wie geht es dir? as formal...

@sxcpaintball Yes, it must be the other way round. (Wie geht es Ihnen= formal).

I am confused, my german professor told me Wie geht es Ihnen was the formal, and the dir was informal

I heard better, and the teacher corrected the little problem, when she said that "wie geht es ihnen?" was formal.

@girl4teaching it also directly translates to how are you called.

@reno17420 in order to learn a language u can't just translate everything. Every language has its own rules.
