  • @papertigers426 No offense, but you clearly don't know much about this type of racing. A corvette, in this case, was in T1 class and the evo in T2. The corvette should be faster in every way, since it is allowed more power.

  • @Blackhawk9188 lol to be honest with you i wasnt really paying that much attention to the video itself, i was responding to the comment made by ProjectCerebrus. i was thinking more in terms of a stock corvette vs a stock evo. evos have insane cornering ability and on tracks like road atlanta thats a good advantage to have. looking back at my comment, yes it wasnt true in this case but i think stock it would be a different story.

    stock EVO IX- 1:38.4

    Hockenheim Short (1.6 mile 11 turn)

    stock C5Z06= 1:14.9

    stock EVO IX= 1:17.6

    No, the EVO isn't beating the C5Z06 stock to stock on any roadcourse. Sorry.

  • @01Z06guy yeah if you only go by lap record, you're failing to take into account pit stops, and a lot of other things. the evo can enter corners faster than the vette and the vette isnt gonna have enough room to pass it on the straights if the evo driver is smart. the evo should beat the vette off the line and block it for the rest of the race. honestly though this kind of argument is pointless, the evo makes a lot more sense for someone who needs to drive their car more than 200 miles a year.

  • That depends upon how you intend to use the car. If you are too poor to have another car and need to haul your kids around in your race car, then sure.  But the Corvette gets better fuel economy, is a much, much nicer highway cruiser, has more features like dual zone automatic climate control, HUD, and dual power memory everything, and doesn't destroy the clutch every 5th time you luanch it like the evo.

  • you need about 10,000 laps of experience first. Then worry about racing.

  • No, just start with a bunch of autocrosses and HPDEs. You do NOT just jump onto the track like that. If you want to do that, pick up a Playstation. These guys have been doing this for years. Seat time, seat time, seat time.

  • those guys in the STi are HORRIBLE...those were the worst lines I've ever seen around road atlanta..

  • Not defending the STI driver but, keep in mind he was driving very defensive so youre not going to be on the fast line. He was doing everything he could do to block the Evo and keep it behind him, had he been "online" the Evo would have simple jumped inside of him.

  • What kind of lap times do T2 Subie's and Evo's do at Road Atlanta?

  • Road atlanta is a perfect course for corvettes with its long open straights and those are T1 (vettes) cars not T2 (EVO& STi) and that STi driver was having a hard time and overdriving the car with an extremely defensive line.

  • Those cars are in unlimited classes, as in tube framed and almost unlimited horsepower restrictions. The fact that they even allow a basically showroom stock STI and EVO to share the track at the same time speaks volumes for our cars..If you want to see what an unleashed Evo can do, You may want to check out the Unlimited time attack EVO at AMSPerformance

    Just to clarify, the T1 Corvettes that pass are real Corvettes with very limited modifications allowed. And the longblocks are stock. Very similar modification rules to the T2 EVOs. Faster stock, so faster modded and in a higher class.

  • He is not a beginner and knows the track, Im guessing he didnt adjust to the hot tires and was too concerned about where I was. He was also driving defensive at times to keep me from diving under him.

  • Yes I had the PA on the radio, its a nice way to keep track of what is going on if you dont have a spotter.
