  • are there any chemical to replace KNO3?

  • I have some Copper Nitrate Pantahydrate. If I was to heat it into a white powder & mix it with sugar would it produce a smoke bomb dough? Also your video didn't show much on the dough & how it was kept from burning & other things.

  • cool video, the amazing part is potassium nitrate smoke bomb, everyone already made it before but noone recorded it so good like you, it is too close!!! it is so cool! DID YOU DO THAT ON SUMMER HOLIDAY.........BECAUSE I WILL DO LOT OF EXPERIMENTS SOON ON SUMMER!!!!! AND RECORD AND PUT ON INTERNET!

  • Badass good on you for teaching your bro some real chemistry.

You guys are like the Elric brothers from Full Metal Alchemist

  • Such a cute kid those are! I'm glad your introducing them to chemistry so early! Also is he your kid?

  • Love the experiments - more importantly, love that you're involving yet another generation in real chemistry!!

  • i think a smoke bomb with smoke Heavier than air would have been better

  • omg i love 4:51 the bam :D

  • Lol the cement outside of my house is all burned from me playing with smokebombs

  • the copper that is produced is very small in size and can likely be crushed up correct and if this is so could i use it in a ball mill and make a very fine powder that could be used in pyro comps for blue?

  • posiably, it would likly be contaminated with Al.

  • well then can you say sparkly blue?!?!?

  • Well thats the thing about this kind of science, if you want to know do an experiment!

  • thank you very much for responding most do not

  • XD your smoke bomb looks like a bun!

  • How old is he? He makes a good assisant and a scientist!!

  • You should have called the little dude AlchemicalSapling :)

  • lol

  • thats good to see your working with kids. i love your videos. would mixing copper silphate with HCL make copper chloride.?

  • yes it would, if you want to do the one with the foil that will work but if you want to make a pure sample that this would not work

  • yes but you could purify by recrystalisation a few times

  • @TheQuantumChemist

    React either:

    Copper (II) oxide

    Copper Hydroxide

    Copper Carbonate

    with hydrochloric acid...

    It produces copper chloride..

  • @Pyrotecnican

No reacting copper sulfate and HCL will form CuCI2

  • @TheQuantumChemist

Just refering to Wikipedia about Copper Chloride...

But if you react copper sulfate with HCl, there's hydrogen ion and a sulfate ion.. Won't they combine and produce sulfuric acid?

    H2SO4?

If you react copper oxide, your'e left with water...

  • @Pyrotecnican

yes sorry i was mistaken it would produce a sulfate ion , hydrogen ion a carbonate ion and some other ions , you need to seperate the sulfate ion from all of the others this can be achieved by super heating copper sulfate to red hot and then put it in HCL

  • Nice work guys! The smoke mix worked quite well.

  • As always I enjoy the mix of tricks, experiments, kitchen chem, and humor at work in your vids. Great, unique channel that just keeps gettin better each time out. Fake blood and smoke bombs..learning and having fun...this is just awesome. *****5 stars*****

  • Hey how come you guys didn't explain on how to make fake blood?

  • a links in the side bar, nerdrage allready did it.

  • great video! thx!

but how do i make that potassium

    thiocyanate?

  • no idea, its one of those chemicals thats much harder to make than buy

  • oh it looks like you can make it from reacting potassium cyanate with potassium thiosulphate. just need to get the much more deadly cyanate salt.

  • @AlchemicalGarden lol, jw, how old are you?

  • 19, unlike you i dont lie about my youtube age, lol. :P. anyway so what dues "jk" mean? people keep saying it.

  • @AlchemicalGarden

    "jk" means Just Kidding

I said "jw" though, which means Just Wondering,

I didnt lie!, Wait, I did.

    I just turned 14, 2 days ago :D

  • oh now i see. XD thanks for the head up. lol 43

  • lol, how old is the guy next to you XD?

  • Isnt it lovely the smell of making a smokebomb? Btw what you did at 3:30, it happened to me on accident. I wanted to boil my copperchloride and hydrochloric acid solution down, though I thought the hydrochloric acid already vaporized. I put it in an aluminum pan.. lol You dont want to know what happened next xD but I think you can guess.

  • Lol thats pretty funny. I love it when I make really stupid mistakes (so long as they dont kill me) like when I put the cork on the hydrogen generator, what the hell was I thinkin?

  • @AlchemicalGarden I did almost the same thing but there was a very long little tube attached to my cork. When it caught fire, I wanted to make my small burner, the flame actually traveled into the tube which to me did not really make that much sense sinse there is no place for oxygen in there but apperently there was enough to make a little flame and it traveled all the way back to the source and it popped the cork off the same way as it did with you. But it scared the crap out of me.

  • Who was your assistant?

  • now that would be telling, you might as well ask who I am.

  • very very nice my friend :)

  • Where do you buy all the equipment?

  • doing a video, soon... : )

  • Hey! Fake blood cuts!

  • SWEET!

  • I love your videos. What a pity I am more interested in (awesome, marvelous, omnipotent, great, etc.) medicine, and I aspire to become MD in the future... I am completely retarded in maths, so chemistry itself is not for me ;..(..

  • I love House to

  • Loving the copper chloride and aluminuim, might have to borrow that for my next open day.
