  • the first fill Freddie plays under his vocal- you know Albert Collins STOLE that!

  • @d820m You're right, however don't you think that it's WAY over the top? I guess it was more accepted during the early 60's and as you said- the black artists didn't mind because their records got played. I guess I was looking at in today's standards.

  • Great performance by Freddie but what is with that host trying to sound black? Very contrived and embarassing IMO

  • @midrider335 That's Bill "Hoss" Allen legendary DJ from WLAC in Nashville Tenn....Gene Nobles, and John R(Richbourg) the black atrists didn't mind him sounding black because their records got played.....

  • I know it was probably popular at the time, but having those women dancing there looks stupid

  • Could someone in the studio please get the drunk guy off the soundboard and put in someone who knows what the hell they're doing...

  • he its the elvis of the buggie

  • Freddie King's awesomeness doesn't let me watch the girls's bouncing boobs.

  • He was the true king of the blues.

  • es335...................

  • @ssg10 Es345 with the varitone.

  • Please see the Blues Boy Kings version of this song on jasenorthblues channel!

  • Love the voice he has!

  • Freddie's a badass and that's a jailbait blues band sandwich!

  • Love how that guitar strap is just slung across his right shoulder.

  • @strandwolf i like how his g string tuner is bent

  • @johnnymccrowe I think there's a photo of him playing a rather beat-up Les Paul gold top with one of the tuner plastic pegs just gone--tune with pliers or bend up to pitch!

  • @strandwolf haha, think i remember seeing that photo ages ago

  • We be dancersizinnn!!!!!!!!

  • @Barnekkid with albert king ^^

  • Fine young dollys in the back there

  • It was Oak Cliff....in "Big D"

    Freddie is the King...

  • nice hair :-)

  • Awesome video!

  • Freddie King, the baddest, coolest and most soulful of his generation of Blues men!

Huge influence on the blues Brits of the 60's: Clapton, Beck, Peter Green, Jimmy Page, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Rory Gallagher.... and on and on... to SRV, Gary Moore...

  • uh!

  • LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

  • @26PEARSON Yeah man! Had the privilege of seeing him live and smokin in the seventies when he opened for Santana on the tour supporting his Caravanserai album, not too many years before his untimely demise. He was absolutely a knock out. Santana was as well, having just gone into a new phase in his musical exploration. A great night of music and I only wish Carlos would have brought him out for a song or two.

  • @craiglouis Oh craiglouis you lucky lucky soul!!!

  • @folly5girl I didn't know HOW lucky until I look back. He kept getting better to the end. And that period of the Santana exploration was great. He went into a commercial phase in the late 70s early 80s and the output was not near as experimantal or as exciting as the first four albums. His other Jazz explorations were valid, as well, and the collaborations with Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, as he was known then (Carlos was Devadip if I remember right).

  • @craiglouis since he died in 1976.. i' m thinkin' all that stuff he did was before then.

  • WOW!

  • Gottta love the announcer calling him "Honey" ! Not the first time either !

How can being 'tore down' make a person feel so good ?....That's the Blues, John Lee Hooker said...... "it's all about the Healing"....thanks for this valuable post !

  • This must be sort of old. Never seen the Texas Cannonball with a conk before. Great!

  • unbelievable! This is one of my favorite Clapton songs and never knew who originally did it! Thanks to the uploader. This is great. Thank god 4 youtube, so educational!

  • my wife just bought BURGLAR for me so good

  • Such a talented man. I can see where Clapton and a million other guitarists were inspired

  • THIS IS THE SHIT!!!

  • This is such a great performance...clapton did a fine version but Freddy is the Man!

  • was gatemouth brown left handed? seems to me i remember him being so.

  • I can not have a bad day as long as this video and freddie king are on you tube, we need more of these before it's too late and there no longer available...

  • Brilliant, thank you for sharing!

  • once again....my buddy BOY here....

    that's so nice of him

  • host is a bit of a condesending wanke though

  • a very elite group those Kings... this is just awesome... so glad I got to see him more than a few times, first of which was Ann Arbor in 1972...

  • Yes it was mirrored because at one point the guitarist in the back playing a Rickenbacker became a left handed guitarist then all of a sudden he's back as a right handed guitarist . Great clip.

  • The girls don't change places, but it looks like the video is mirrored. At 2:01 Freddie is playing the guitar left handed!

  • how wonderful is this....Mr King rocked! I dunno maybe the dancers did a dancer across to change positions, love the rickenbacker , vintage instruments all around, Mr Freddie King, thank you for all your musics

  • Now, can somebody tell how do the girls change places at 1:46 and the back again at 2:06?

  • great song

  • whos tha t host he cool as hell!

  • Now that's how it's done!"!

  • wow

  • Nice stuff love this guy and check out those Chicks

  • Many thanks for posting this gem. Freddie was a monster back in the day and he is sorely missed.

  • The man can't play a straight note to save his life and that's ok with me!

  • i brauch a soichane frauen.

  • whois rob johnson?

  • is this a real question ???? or a joke ???

  • When was this song first recorded by Freddie King? It sounds similar to Im tore up by Billy Gayle (With Ike Turner)

  • Wow! Freddie King and THREE go-go dancers!

  • The little number in blue aint bad either ! Freddie sings like a dream too! great post.

  • yes indeed , the Texas Cannonball in his HAY-DAY!

  • i hope freddie tapped the pink one

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

  • Bear Family Records released a box-set called Taking Care Of Businnes wich includes everything Freddie cut from 1956 to 1973.

Every guitar player should listen to these recordings!!!

  • that is why they invented the sportsbra

  • Comment removed

  • @bmw5132 fools.

  • @bmw5132 sportsbras suck!

  • @bmw5132 those spoil-sports!

  • Can someone make a box-set of cds for FK? Just love this guy's feel and ability!

  • thats bobby cox from the hendrix experience playing bass and gatesmouth brown on guitar in backround

  • nice to put on some real blues master clips. younger folks today don't even know who these guys were. life doesn't stop with srv, clapton, or moore. of course they don't hurt things, either. without the likes of freddie, albert king, jimmy rodgers, otis rush, etc., there wouldn't be modern day blues masters.

  • Don't forget Robert Johnson!

  • and don't forget about the man that penned this gem- Sonny Thompson. He and Freddie wrote and played a lot of great music together in their short time on this earth. We all stand in their shadow.

  • i mean 32..see told ya! math...yuck

  • rwm....youre right, sorry..math was never my "thing"..34..still a young guy..amazing

  • he was only 22 years old at this time and already had it on everybody else, thanks for the legacy, the music and soul..may you live forever!

  • He was 32. Born in 1934. He is definitely my favorite. Loved all his early instrumentals starting with Hideaway, The Stumble etc.etc............

  • this is C L A S S I C Freddy! squeezin the "Juice" outa a Fender Super Reverb! and a 345!

  • simply amazing, thanks for putting this video up Freddy King is the greatest

  • I got the bbq on the grill and my feet in da river

  • he is playing only with his fingers another day at the park for him...just fantastic

  • Amazing vocals!!

  • Brilliant! King Records had James Brown and Freddie King back then!

  • Espectacular.

  • es unico, creo ke el guitarrista de blues del ke mas bebo. su voz, su tecnica, su feeling... para mi el mejor entre tantos ke tambien son muy buenos.

  • coincido plenamente con vos!

  • Freddie is the KING

  • Freddie King was an innovator deluxe. He was a great singer/songwriter & performer. Freddie was extremely influential on SRV, Clapton & others. interesting that some making comments want to focus on the announcer. Freddie and he were friends.

  • Hot guitar - hot chicks too!

  • Hey all you people that are offended by the white host GET OVER IT! That's the great Hoss Allen from WLAC in Nashville. That's the way it was back then. He along with John R. and Gene Nobles were the melting pot of Rand B deejays from the late 40's thru the 60's. They gave these performers more exposure to the cracker world as you put it and the white folks dug it.. Hoss was legendary and this show filmed in Dallas was the best R& B regional show out there!

  • Holy smokes! At 1:36 you realize the support bra hadn't been invented yet! Por Freddie going to knocked out if he steps back. Lol

  • the best of the "KING,S"freddy for ever!!!!!!

  • Lord have mercy! Look at that conked hair! LOL

  • Straight out of Dallas... I can see an 11-12 year old SRV sitting at home watching this.

  • I agree, Did you know he said he believed he was a black man in a white mans body..ha. SRV was true blues.

  • That's ridiculous, you don't have to be a cottonpicker to play the blues, that only goes for rap music ~

  • I used to pick cotton in LA when I was younger. So.

  • I would feel much less embarassed sittling with a fat black guy than a fat white guy.

  • Haaa. Somehow that makes since....funny

  • @abcaines SRV excelent!!!!

  • @abcaines ......yes it is so

  • @abcaines

Dallas was a big stop for bluesmen...Robert Johnson recorded every song he ever played in Dallas ;)

  • @scnokc77 Actually, Johnson recorded twice in his career. First, in San Antonio in a makeshift studio set up in a hotel room, then later in Dallas for the Park Avenue sessions. But you're correct about Dallas/Ft. Worth being a big stop for bluesmen on the chitlin' circuit. Deep Ellum in Dallas has always had countless venues for bands to play, even to this day.

  • @abcaines Yeah I can too right there in wasn't it Oak Cliffs section of dallas?

  • @abcaines Yeah I can too right there in wasn't it Oak Cliffs section of Dallas?

  • @abcaines Yeah I can too right there in wasn't it the Oak Cliffs section of Dallas where he lived for a while?

  • Those dancers are very useful.

  • The girls in the backround, sashaying: HilArious! Awesome stuff, though.

  • Host is like the "joker"!

  • "King of the strings" I like that. Nice video.

  • Freddie was so influential to so many 'A' list performers it's a damn shame he's not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

  • is that true? he's not in the HOF? WTF!

  • yeah it's true, I play with is daughter and she's working hard to get it done, they said he was nominated years ago... she called them on it and they came back and said oh our bad... she's working with Clapton and others to get him nominated but there's a lot of politics involved. Hopefully in the next few years Freddie will get his due !

  • whhhhhoooooooooooooooooeeeee FREDDIE KING

  • '...John F Kennedy High School in Dallas where we're 'shooting'...?

  • That host is so funny to me

  • "...my buddy boy here." I would have wanted to slap the host.

  • This man was the main root of a GIANT tree.

  • This was shot in Dallas? Cool.

  • OK is that not "the Swim" ? It looks like it!

Great great video, sweet early color..and fine fine sound! LOVE IT! THANKS!

  • Sobran las Nenas de atras !

  • Jive ass White DJ. Freddie's probably thinking " Get outta my face, Cracker ..." LMAO !!!!!

  • LOLOLOL

  • I was thinkin the announcer was probably a close friend, cuz he talked some smooth jive.. if I am WRONG, I meant nothing except I honestly thought he seemed cool.

  • bein down aint got nothin to do with skin man its all in the soul

  • Comment removed

  • Freds studio work was always too docile. Live he was unbelievable and that was on a bad day! One of the hottest string benders to ever throw down a groove.

  • Buy this DVD if you like Freddie. In my opinion the Beat years (1966) is really the Freddie has to offer. It's before Freddie started performing with white rock stars in the chitlin circuit and this is who really Freddie King is. He died so young, he could have still be performing today.

  • At 1:47 all the guitar players including freddie become left handed guitar players! And the two girls one the ends are switched.

  • i tough he was albert king hahahahaha

  • Wow, nice catch

  • thanx. you can really see it best at 2:00

  • LOL REALLY nice catch....
