You could say the same for american movies about people trying to get laid. I watch films from a lot of countries and it seems only the ones from the US focuses on that. I've noticed a trend with Korean movies too, blunt objects to the head. I've seen maybe 20 Korean movies and probably 16 of them had some scene where someone was wacked to the head with a random object.

Japanese Scifi Animation is simply awesome in design, graphics and sequence but storywise, it's always about how humanity fucked up with science and technology and the young ones has to pay the price. Blah blah blah. Always the same storyline over and over from Appleseed to Final Fantasy to Vexille to etc...

Ya get the sense that they made this movie just to make it with some (little) That being said, it came out pretty well and looks beautiful. I hope Japan makes a lot of more movies like these and really put in a lot of money and resources. Not saying this is a great movie...it's not....but you see a lot of potential in the Japanese computer graphics industry.
