I know what's been going on in this world about how movies "ruin" everyone's favorite characters, like The Smurfs, or Tom and Jerry, or The Looney Tunes Show, etc. I understand COMPLETELY! I know how you all feel. I myself like classic stuff in their course. I would KEEP the feeling of the modern video game adventures. And the ever popular memorable sound effects. I do like this movie though. The plot is very well constructed, and the music is great.

DIC Entertainment is rather part of Disney, and it was it that released the cartoons. Hollywood Pictures released THIS film. Hollywood Pictures came after Touchstone, which came after Disney. So this is technically a Disney film (it's also in the Disney Encyclopedia). I have heard that people preffer WB, but I still think Disney is the perfect one for this fantasy.
I like Alan's take on the Super Mario Theme, it's so accurate for using real instruments. When I first heard that along time ago, my first thought was hey they put the game's music in the movie, but how? Now I can tell it's done with synthesized instruments! Alan should have done the entire theme for the sound track, it would have rocked.
The producers said... Mario genre doesn't work as a real live action movie... That's why it had to be changed in this way... and I totally agree :) It was great!
@KragJin The Mario genre totally works as a film. Hell, there was actually a script before this one that was actually truer to the original games. It had flower fields. It had Luigi with a mustache. It had mushrooms (not the ones in this movie) and best of all, it had an actual King Bowser Koopa and not a businessman human lizard guy played by Dennis Hopper. It would work as a Pixar movie or Imagi movie. I could see it now.

Just take a look at the Zelda manga (yeah, I'm a huge nintendo nerd, what of it?), lots of changes and additions were created to make the stories interesting. But they didn't take the liberty of turning Link into a spaceman and having ganondorf being his best friend at the start of the movie. This SMB movie was just... too different.

Jumpman sounds like a good title. i do flash animations. (so far i haven't posted any of my good ones) but i might start writing it once i finish a project i've been working on.
