  • needs to do more transforming to me.

  • Holy Fuck!!

Maya PWNS every other 3D software,,,Its Simply Te BEST!!

  • Well. The polygon modeling in it is trash. Sorry man. The animation is good, but there are SO many overlooked glitches and features that are missing in it. Nurbs are fine.

  • this is a TEST. clearly I can tell that this was not what was used in the film. his feet in this animation go flying around and levitate around his legs. Im sure if we were to view the final product, the actual animation used in the film, it would look much much more realistic and would make sense.

  • :/ I'm talking about Maya. The animation program. Please read the comments in sequence man.

  • sorry but i cant get hold of your comment,,,

I said MAYA IS THE BEST,,,

and you cant compare nurbs and poly, both have their own positives and negatives,,,

But again,,,,i prefer using poly over nurbs,,,again,,dont want to be controversial on that,,,

  • No. I mean they're both equally good for their own porposed. What I'm saying is that Maya's polygonal modeling system isn't as good as many others in other programs. It's just too loose. Verteces that should be split magically fuse together, edges that should net even exist are all over the place, entire FACES dissapear and the surrounding edges acte like tere are already faces there, so it's infixable. Not even the undo command works right.

  • Sorry dude,,,but you need to learn maya more,,,,it seems you dont even know what maya can do if you use it correctly,,its the most powerfull 3D software in the market,,if you dont believe it,,,try it,,I use maya,,and i know the power of maya,,,as far as polygon modelling is concerned,,,

maya has some of the best tools available,,,

  • Yes. I realize that. It doesn't mean the program's flawless.

EVERY app has it's flaws. Maya's just happens to be polygons.

  • In the movie it looks like it's morphing but, if you look at the cgi work and watch the pieces, its transforming. No one could figure this out. it takes alot of geniouses to do it like Michael Says

  • looks GREAT//////

  • front tire is floating ! Stupid cheat

but good video, it kicks Gobot's ass

  • Not to rain on anybody's parade, but having the simplified transformations and blocky look in the movie would have been horrible. Blocky bots may look good in television series, but not in a live action movie. Complex transformations means more fluid articulation and body movement, what you want in a live action movie.

  • Well, that's partially true. If you search around Digital Blasphemy, there's an 'Optimus' that is very true to the G1 version that looks pretty realistic

  • "Blocky bots may look good in television series, but not in a live action movie"

Prove it. Make a live action Transformers movie with more simplistic Cybertronian designs and demonstrate WHY they look as terrible as they do.

Dashierez is MORE than right. If Digital Blasphemy (and so many others) could create great-looking CG1 TFs, why not ILM?

  • They simply didn't do it correctly. Their design style isn't the only "complex" alternative. Did you even stop and think that?

  • I'm not usually one to pick on how someone writes something, but I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about.

"They simply didn't do it correctly."

They didn't do what correctly? Do you mean the G1 treatment they supposedly experimented with, or the new design they eventually came to?

"Their design style isn't the only "complex" alternative."

What other complex alternative are you referring to?

  • When I said that, I meant they wanted to make it more complex, and fucked up. They could have made it look complex, and have it still look good, but they didn't. They could have given them character, but instead they are just pieces of crished up soda cans being thrown at the camera.

  • masterpiraka.

speilberg and bay actually insisted on emphasizing that these tranformers are just 1%human base and 99% alien based.

first look at ourselves, we seem to be complex right?

    so does the transformers.

these aliens are metal based life forms, so they can twist, reshape, reweld themselves like hell.

block like forms aint good for complex martial-arts moves fucked up how? when almos all of trns4mers fans like what bay and spielberg made.

  • Yes, but we don't have original designs that fans will get pissed of about it we don't live up to them.

Look, you want me to illustrate my idea of a decent G1 style choice that is both cinematic AND cool?

    I will.

  • You fanboys need to get the idea into your heads that we are not going to live the the 80s all our lives. Original designs? the cartoons had 4 moving parts, are you saying you would rather have had the robots in the films only have 4 to 5 moving parts when transforming? wake up buddy, if we have super computers able to render thousands of moving parts in life like quality then we are going to damn well use it. dont buy the film when it comes out, just lock yourself in your room with 80's re-runs

  • I'm 16, dude. And I think the movie designs are pretty bad, save OP. (for the most part)

There's no need to attack someone for seeing the flaws in the say spomething's designed. For one, the movie's budgets don't have to be so damn big if they'd just cut back on the shards of metal squashed together look. I'm not saying I like the G1s better I'm saying the movie designs SUCK.

  • Also, this is nothing about time, they're just badly designed robots. THey could have been modernized in a MUCH better way, but they chose....this...

    That was my whole point.

  • FAIL

  • ???

  • good...

    but why it's a double transformetion?(2 robots)

  • why couldnt hasbro make the real toy come out sumthing like this? :((

the leg articulation ia horrible on the leaderclass

but other than that its a pretty cool toy

  • I believe they had to cheat on some of the design areas in the movie version to make Prime look sexier. How I wish they could come up with movie accurate toys too!

  • as if, i saw a peice of the front wheel fly up to the thigh. ??

  • I agree. A complex transformation would be a bummer. That's why I think that there's beauty in the simplicity of the G1 design.

  • Did you notice how many large chunks of things went through other pieces in this vid? THat would be impossible.

  • Impossible, but for some reason preferable to more simplistic, realistic transformations as established by the toys. If only Bay did as much research into robotics as he did for accurate military lingo and procedures. :S

  • ...and the franchize itself...

  • He actually doesn't even do that as well as one would think. There's a few things in the movie military-wise that are just not accurate. That 'bogey' would've never made it to the base, let alone 'on deck' and right next to the control tower. That's just one of them...too lazy to think of more atm.

  • Thank you. You've somehow managed to knock my respect for Bay (such as it was) one peg lower. *lol*

  • i can think of a way to make the toy transform more like the movie without being as complex as this, if interested ask me

  • Asking...

  • leader class looks HUGE with his leg articulation

  • That's pretty nice, I was looking out there for a video like this.

  • i like the first test better

  • That looks like nightwatch optimus prime!

Ill give you a five star!
