I find the trailer more deseving than the movie, yes the movie is about desperaux but you don't see him for the first 5-6 minuets of the film, instead you get to see the rat, and why the kingdom goes into dispair first. I personally liked it, but just found the trailer aiming towards another part of the movie oppose to what it really was more focusing on.

first of all , you don't get any emotional connection with the main characters so that you can get into the whole cartoon , second , it is around 15 century , i don't think someone would die from the shock of eating soup where a rat was because the hygiene wasn't on that big of level at that time , 3. why did desperaux get scared when he saw that skull after released down ??  i am disappointed ...

What an appropriate movie for the way my family and I are feeling right now for losing a beloved family member. We are dealing with grief, anger, and isolation just as this movie is portrayed. There is so much in "The Tale of Despereaux" that everyone can relate to. Even though it's an animation, I believe adults will enjoy this film just as kids would. It's a very touching and heartwarming film and funny too.

The book is nice, but it's awfully biased about the rats. It gives Roscuro a reason to do what he does, but it makes him seem very evil, and the main reason he's evil in the book is this: he's a rat. The movie made it more about how he felt.

Despereaux himself is better in the book though.

I saw the movie and its about 65% accurate to the book. I thought it would be a horrible film at first like most of you but it was actually an okay film. I recommend to buy the movie when it comes out on DVD but dont watch it in the theatres. To many kids.

You're right, the movies are never the dame as the book. For example, for the city of ember, the boy (doon) was supposed to be 12, but did the actor look twelve? No. I researched, and he was 24 or something. hat pissed me off, but still, the movie was ok. I just disagree with you about something and that is that the book is probably better than the movie. The author has a nice way of writing and she addresses us by saying reader. It's fun ot read, but the movie looks good too.
