hey both viedos are just a explosion, well done, but look if you have an effect called Pixel Polly.

it's like glass that breaks but with color correction you can make it like these are parts of the exploding object

haha, this is probably the easiest effect I've ever done. I filmed my dog, then took him out of the scene. I cut out the part of me taking him out to the point where he was not there.

Then I got some footage from detonation films, and overlayed that. Very simple, it was done with adobe premiere
