single speed is for noobs.. i'm making one now with a poulan 46cc chainsaw motor with a 7 speed. i could hit 45-50 just pedalling and i bet i could hit 60-70 with the right gear ratio. also i dont need a running start, i just push the throttle... but the Centrifugal clutch helps
I've watched a few of these now. Friction drive seems the way to go. You have geared friction drive. Cool. At 53 years old, I want my wacker assisted bicycle (haven't determined, but some comfy cruiser) to be as quiet as possible, and top out around 18 to 20 mph. 26cc seems to be plenty for that assignment.
@consolehacker54 how do you plan to attach it? I am looking at these videos because i plan to put a motor on my schwinn stingray, was debating a weedwacker or a smaller lawnmower. what do you think would be easier, and would the extra effort, if need be for the lawn mower make it that much faster? also, how long of a project do you think this would be?
nice to see some one that has put the motor soo it looks good, i meen almost every other weed wacker bike on youtube has the motor on the side sticking out like one meter! :P
thats great! my buddy and i are working on 1 right now! we have a chain saw engine and weedwacker and seeing who can build 1 better! my bets on my weedwacker it spins faster. thats amazing (:
@sharon102645 Yo man upgrade the gear ratio in that assembly, so you can get more speed out of the motor. You have just inspired me to do that to my bike.
i am trying something like this i have been looking at these kind of videos for a round 2 years and im finally going to make one its a 27 cc craftsman motor im going to mount it to a 26 inch bike
The engine is small and drive roller good size so tire wear not that bad. But It is true there is more wear than say chain or belt to the wheel. Thanks
KM/H.. Not MPH.. Just to clear that up. If I could hit 45-50 MPH.. I'm lance Armstrong lmao

OutdoorsIsFun 11 months ago
thats probably more like 20 downhill, about 10 uphill and 15 at a cruise on a level surface.
blackknights94 11 months ago
I'd get a stronger engine, the engine strains on hills. like, 42cc, this would be FAST!

change the gear ratio you could probably get it up to 38 without acceleration problems especially if you slap on a performance carb

That's impressive for a 14cc. I like the chain/friction drive combo. Best of both worlds.
