  • these kind of bikes started in the velodrome then messengers used them in the big citys to deliver packages between businesses. and also some illegal packages. now all these fucking fags have these bikes and are ruining the reputation of the fixed gear bike!!! FUCKING HIPSTERS RUIN EVERYTHING

  • @dxmcghee uh hello mcfly? This kind of bike was the first bike with equally sized wheels and a chain drive. It has existed for more than 100 years. People complaining about hipsters are closet hipsters.

  • Congratulations. You have a bike that doesn't stop.

  • the best part is when he nearly hits himself in the face with the bike

  • i got one for free.. decided to try it for a couple weeks as a campus cruiser and a trainer bike for my fitness.. ended up selling it a week later.. crashed into numerous people on school. almost got his by a bus. you cant even stop even with skid stopping.. its useless...

  • @cptkorean You could buy a bike with brakes but I guess that means doing some thinking.

  • Comment removed

  • @cptkorean then mount a fucking brake. Ever heard about those?

  • @nilo2209 no what is this brake? ive never heard such things before.

  • any dumbass can skid going down in a fucking parking garage.

  • stupid long useless patch

  • what the fuck is this?

  • There's no advantage of using a fixie...the weight talk is BS it doesn't make a diference. And less maintenance...common. The only reason for getting one is if you find them and the whole NY bike messenger thing cool. I really find a lot of the bikes well designed and cool but don't argue that it's a better bike.

  • @revolversntulips it's a better bike. Sorry. :)

  • @BLINDedbysociety your an idiot.

  • skid like a retard

  • way to go "tyler". all that motor oil would make any one skid without trying.

  • stupid.

  • real mf's are ridin fixies now that all the hipsters are selling em like last seasons pogo sticks, be carefull who you call out in the streets

  • lmfao. get your cock off the stem.

  • thats a skid not a skid STOP-.-

  • wow

  • homosexual

  • thats not a skid stop stupid

  • it takes 255 ft to stop.... hmm so if there is a car that doesnt see you driving out u need to skid for 255 ft to stop?? priceless... nice bike though and yes its a cool trick... im just thinking why people bag on people with breaks?

  • @TheBum642 if you rode fixed, you would know that he could stop much much faster, not to mention avoid the car by steering while in the skid (you can) and that the reason it is 255 feet is cause you could skid forever on a slope like that. stop hating.

  • y everytime i try 2 skid da pedals keep moving and hurt my legs?

  • @fly63100 ur not positioning them correctly.

  • does anybody realise this is pointless and takes no skill like my 13 year old sister could do this and she cant evan bunnyhop my 22.5 pound bike

  • What's the use of a stop skid?

  • cool dude try that up to an intersection.

  • @sexycubey HAHA SPLAT!!

  • any dick who rides a fixie could do that wtf it has over 200 thow veiws

  • i think that you of all people would find my skidding tutorial useful.

  • Damn.. U look Gay ...He's like a cat that taking a shit

  • killin ur tires

  • i like 0:15 the best

  • bet you cant do a bar spin skid.

  • oh man, learn how to actually skid over the seat then you can actually stop hahhahahhaha 255 ft skid hahahahh pointless

  • there are skid marks all over this video

  • hella wack

  • @nestorslayer510 who says "hella" lmao!

  • @PLURKID25 everyone who lives in northern california

  • you need a bigger bike bro

  • Awesome i put some sand on my street and that wore down my tires a bit I can do it now but damn does that hurt ur balls

  • I had one when I was 9, it was crap then. They are crap now.

  • LOL @ how he skids ( he shakes his ass ) and another LOL @ his major fail at the end with the wheelie. Sad kid.

  • This isn't a skid stop.... This is just skidding... Skid stop is when you pull up your foot and push down on your other foot dude... Damn hipsters

  • i just got a retro spec fixie and whenever i try and skid stop my bike just slows down any tips?

  • @PaliAssKickerz Lean forward more...

  • @PaliAssKickerz Be at a moderate to slow pace, stand up, lean forward, when a crank is pretty much a little past parallel to the ground (back foot just shy of reaching level), pull up with your front foot (hopefully you have cages) and push back with your rear foot. The first couple of skids will be short and choppy. This is your legs getting used to this new pressure. And skidding on something with a lower coefficient of friction is much easier to skid on, smooth concert vs. rough asphalt.

  • Why does this have so many views?

  • it takes u a really long time to stop

  • typical fixie douchebag.

    you're bad kid

  • Do you need to keep replacing tyres on a fixie or do they last for a long time??

  • @LAGASH40

there are tyres such as gatorskins that will last you around 2-3 months (wich is long on a fixed gear) but if you dont do gay hipsterskids (as this one) you dont have to replace them.

  • I like how he falls on his ass at the end. Best part of the video

  • I know he fell for sure after that wheelie.

  • My guess is becuase this video is a common place to end up when reading about fixed gear bikes, and suddenly realizing "wait, how do you stop with no breaks?"

  • is is how you brake on a fixie?

  • i bet a lot though at the end where he tries to do a wheelie but looks like he fails wished it showed the part where he potentially went flat on his back side

  • hellllla slippy

  • Nice skiddage, brah. Fuck these haters. It's a fun way to control, and I can and do drift mine around corners and shit. It's a 46X16T setup, 27" rear wheel, 26X1.5 front wheel (classic Schwinn size) Shimano flip-flop, sweet Shimano crank, a set of stubby ass bullhorn bars I cut myself. It's a sick bike and since it's so light I can pedal it right up some decent hills. Keep riding fixie, I'll never stop! I'm in the best shape of my life because I ride one. No fucking lie, bro.

  • what kind of handlebars do you have

  • Easy to accomplish if the ground is good and you don't have much tread left. Go get some new tires, buddy.

  • You better edit that lame shit.

  • cagon

  • i wonder if theres people that are lik oh no another fixed rider awe man when they just started riding themselvess?

  • I can only skid now if I hold the hand brake a little bit. Im gonna take the brakes off sometime

  • I got my bike in the mail. And today I changed it to fixed. Im turning 14 in one month, and you need some strong ass legs to do this. I thought it would be alot easier since i've never ridden fixed. Are wheelies hard too? I do it like nothing on mountain bikes

  • @P8NTBALLER987 you dont really need strong legs for this, its easy, and wheelies are hard at first, it just takes practice

  • great to see another kid joining in on the fad....not

  • stfu

  • @fivemilesoutfromhere

i hope you realize this "fad" is about 200 years old now. by your standards, using a fork is a fad too. and wearing pants.

  • whats the point of this vid im prety shure anyone with a bike with a fixed cog knows how to skid?

  • what makes you say that?

  • becuse its how you stop and slow down?

  • is nobody wondering why this piontless video has over 100,000 views?

  • i know right.

  • @iwearskinnies yes...yes i am

  • @iwearskinnies CAUSE THATS A SEXY BIKE

  • @iwearskinnies You don't ride a fixie. Try it, then you will understand.

  • @garageTroll11235 uhh yes i do ride a fixie and i do a million skid stops everyday, they are really not that hard, and if i knew that all i had to do was video tape myself doing one and i would get over 200,000 views i would have made like 20.

  • @iwearskinnies my apologies. Tape it, I'll watch it!

  • @iwearskinnies Because fixies are the trendiest shits in the world..

    Fucking hate these things

  • @vlm3030 Damn man I hate tredy shit too. Fuckin mainstream faggots doin that thing they call "Walking". Yeah fuck that! Im too damn hip for that. Am I right bro?

  • @iwearskinnies because he has yellow rims

  • @iwearskinnies one year later I am wondering how I got here and I am guilty for adding one more view wich brings us up to 272.055 views!

  • i want to know who first decided that not being able to stop effectively was impressive.

  • @kingdiamondking ahahahahahahaa

  • does this fuck up your tires??? and they arent heavy duty tires anyways

  • its a bianchi pista

    with yellow deep vs?

  • that was stupid.

  • what kind of bike is that?

  • @rakishi18 YOUR MOM FUCK

  • yeah but when you sit down and skid you fuck up your lockring

  • Who told you this? Lockring's are cheap anyway....

  • it happens to me when i do a sit down stop it slips after a while. you can just glue to the hub and it will stop i think but i, to lazy

  • why not just use brakes

  • save your tires, learn to seated skid, and stop humping your bike, once you learn to seated skid you NEVER have to learn forward anymore, its instinct. plus u stop 100x faster

  • Your stem is not gay... stop teabagging it

  • @BLINDedbysociety haha nice one!

  • @BLINDedbysociety hahahaahaha!

  • i cant lock my pedals corectly somebody please help me =( ivebeen riding for about a day soo

  • ssoo.. what do you do if a car all of sudden pulled out in front of you? skid into it? or jump off your bike? is there a way to actually STOP on a fixed gear bike? like, a good quick stop that you can achieve with front a rear brakes.

  • rear brake is no faster than skid stopping. in fact skid stopping is faster than rear braking and front braking will just make you fall off your bike

  • that is actually very untrue. i am going to guess that you just pulled all of that out of your ass before actually doing any research. to say that skid stopping with rubber tires on smooth asphalt is just the same as the direct response of brake pads being pulled tight directly to the tires braking surface is ridiculous.

  • w/e i'm not gong to argue but from my experience to me it's either the same thing or skidding is faster.

  • @daaznriceballs actually locking up tires is the least effective way to stop any moving object. that's why things like anti lock brake systems were invented, because the best way to stop is to bring the tires to the point of almost locking up, and being able to maintain that, not locking them and flat-spotting the hell out of them.

  • @camwizardoz Yes but shut the hell up. Theres no ABS on a fixie, so if you want to ride, you have to figure out the next best thing or just mount some freaking front wheel brakes you gay douche bag.

  • @ChristianSeifert haha so im a gay douche bag for telling you the facts? get over yourself, if people mount brakes on their bikes its because they have evolved beyond the primitive method of flat spotting their tires just to do something as simple as stopping. fixies have and always will be for the track, where you have loads of space to stop, hence their name "track bikes".

  • @camwizardoz a fixed track bike and a fixed street bike are both fixies just a fixed street bike may have front and back or just front breaks but still lacks coasting.

  • @themadscientest true, but what im saying is that specifically track bikes without brakes should not be on the streets, because their TRACK bikes. This bike obviously has no brakes, therefore it shouldn't be on the street. if you want to go on the street anyway, be my guest, but your increased stopping distances and slower acceleration than geared bikes placed you at an even larger disadvantage against traffic. at least by mounting brakes you can check one disadvantage off your list.

  • @camwizardoz true, but you can have higher gearing on a fixed too. but the real reason to go fixed gear is the lack of parts to fail on you.

  • @themadscientest yes you can, but then your top end speed suffers. I can see why reliability is an incentive to buy a fixie but that inflexibility when it comes to speed is what turned me away. I have a road bike and mechanically there hasn't been a single failure, the only problem I've had with it was faulty rim liners from the shop but that's unrelated. The reliability argument would have a better basis if fixies were designed to go long distances like road bikes, but they aren't.

  • @camwizardoz its not like im not going to have a road bike but when i go camping any bike with a derailer is going to be unreliable due to packing and travel and sand because i camp like right off the beach. the surroundings dont have hills and its not like i need to travel far so a fixed gear bike with a straight chain would be at an advantage. dont get me wrong i like low gears to get my lazy ass up hills so ill alwas have a road bike around.

  • @themadscientest True. There's always a trade off with bikes when you compare them. I bought a road bike simply because the flexibility of the gears allows for use around hills, which i live in, but also allows for flat road speed. I live in Chavez Ravine and the hills here can get rather steep, so that low gear is quite welcome, but I've also had to go through Downtown L.A which is a couple miles away, so the high gear allows me to stay with the flow of traffic. It's a personal choice i guess.

  • i mean the real reason i want a fixie is to do skids and have something i can just get on and not have to check the gears even if im not nice to it and leave it out for the winter.

  • @themadscientest Well i can see why a fixie would be perfect for your needs, so i suppose its all up to usage and preference. still, the most disdaining aspect about most fixie riders is the blatant disregard for traffic laws and safety, and until that changes, i dont think ill ever be endeared to those bikes because of the bad image that those riders place on the biking community and those bikes.

  • @camwizardoz its that whole "brakeless rebellion" dont worry, it should be over when they end up run over!

  • @themadscientest Haha hopefully it will end soon, I'm tired of seeing all these wanna-be kids riding around like they own the road. Maybe their chains will snap and they'll crash into a wall.

  • you move out the way dumb fuck

  • you must not live in a big city with busy streets. sometimes you cant just 'move out the way' when you are surrounded by cars and people.

  • I ride fixed gear in traffic daily and whatever people say, it does generally break slower when skidding because there is far less weight on the rear wheel, which is the only one stopping.

Having that said, it is perfectly safe if you have control over your bike and anticipate on traffic. It just takes some more attention to your surroundings.

In wet and slippery conditions, riding fixed is definitely preferable because it gives great response to traction when riding or slowing down.

  • bada bing

  • GET A FRONT BRAKE

  • you dumbasses just worry about how stupid YOU look walking down the street, and leave the hipsters alone. personally, i'm not a huge fan of them, but they're cool enough. cooler than you dumb asses. fixed gear is a way of life, you brake using douche bags.

  • @ pokeytime...funny as fuck!

  • the two dumbasses below me are stupid xD

  • whats wrong with brakes

  • its fun to skid

  • dude your the one who needs to get a girlfriend.. and well stop raging over youtube... i

  • Right on Chowy, and a life for that matter.

A quote on the idiocy of hating:

"I charm you and tell you of the boys I hate

    All the girls I hate

    All the words I hate

    All the clothes I hate

How I'll never be anything I hate

You smile, mention something that you like

How you'd have a happy life if you did the things you like"

    -Franz Ferdinand. (The band)

  • Your fucken cool huh?

  • I ate shiiiiiit trying to skid stop yesterday.

  • no one stop like that any more

  • how do you do that?

  • that tail whip is sweet though.

  • You are all n00bs.

    Its a fixed gear.

Skiding on a fixed gear isnt a trick nor is it super cool.

    yet it is fun.

    he has bullhorn bars.

There isnt an advantage to having a fixed gear

its just fun to ride and mess around on.

    Try looking up keo spin.

    You'll be amazed.

    That is a difficult trick.

  • you sir are a noob because keos aren't really difficult.

  • Fixed gears are advantageous in the fact that the chain drive is direct, so it is easier to pedal. Some prefer it because it gives you more of a work out, and others like the simplicity. It's also lighter than road bikes (no rear or front dérailleur, no brakes sometimes). Fixed gears aren't the most practical bikes, but they do have their advantages.

  • on a fixie how often do u pop or wear out ur tires if u skid really long or really frequent

  • facepalmer.....your an idiot. and keo spins arent hard. why dont you spen less time on the net and more on your bike. palm to your face.

  • actually having a fixed gear is an advantage if you compare it to freewheel cause u can go faster.

  • me too would llike to know what handlebars that are =)

i am having a fixed gear soon and i just NEED a bar like that

    please someone tell me xD

  • fixed riding isnt about what looks good...whatever works for you...then do it

  • fixie rider, hey im making a fixie song soon, its gonna be sweet

  • Whats the advantage of fixed gears? I ride a normal drop bar racing bike to school and can still crack out 25 or 30. Just wondering.

  • I wouldn't call it an advantage. It's more about fun!!! You feel more connected to the road because you're directly connected to the chain, and wheel. It's a lot of control. In my opinion they also look pretty sick too. A hell of a lot of people are getting into it to look cool, but I love the simplicity, fun, danger and workout you get from a fixie.

  • what kind of bars please?

  • cool

  • Skidding is really extremely hard I can NOT do it

  • nah its really easy after a while

  • try it on wet road you'll feel like a master :D

  • yeah i was the same for EVER and then someone explained the technique and i skid a little literally on the first try.

    -hero

  • rather than pushing back, try pulling up/forward when your leg reaches the point where its closest to the ground. its the gayest and poser-est way to do it but you gotta start somewhere. dont forget, nutsack over the stem. sitting on the stem with your nutsack. i watched my friend do this like a month ago when i couldnt skid, and then i tried it and i did it my first try. now i can skid while sitting on my seat.

  • hmm I'll try it..

    I have a question though.

By pulling up/forward you are talking about the handlebars right?

  • im talking about when your dominant leg reaches the bottom of its rotation (6 oclock), nutsack goes over the stem and you pull forward with that leg. pull INTENSELY HARD!! and try pushing back with the other leg at the same time. so dominant leg should be at 6 oclock, other leg should be at 12 oclock. 12 pushes back, 6 pulls forward. try with all your might. usually people just arent positioning themselves correctly on their bike though. remember, nutsack over stem. also, keep your arms strait.

  • Alright man thanks for the descriptive instructions....

I'll try it on my way to college LOL

  • That is not a skid stop. A skid stop is when you get your back tire of the ground and stop it from spinning. this is just plain skidding..

  • he was skidding, and he pretty much stopped. dont be an "AnalPhysicist."

  • Yes, but that doesn't make it a "skid stop". dont be an "AnalArcticSquirrelMonkey"

  • That would be a skip stop. The last letter goes the other way.

  • Yea, I don't care.Tell him/her that. Not me.

  • he stopped his tire the whole time to (almost) stop himself. why would you have to take it off the ground? ive never seen that b4.

  • Because if you do you stop way faster. I mean it's obvious you don't ride a fixie if you've never seen it.

  • i own a fixie.

  • Then you must fucking suck if you don't know what a "skid stop" is...

  • Dude fixies r so hrdcore.

  • In Tyler we trust

  • had rained earlier or something, you got some good solid distance on that man.
