I loved how they gave a theme of the Doctor going about Paris, trying to find Lunch. The Doctor's "Going to Lunch" theme!
Although, Do you think this is the Story, Moffat got the Inspiration for the, Crack In Time, Story Arc for the 2010 Series? What with what the Doctor says about the Artist Sketch here?
Lalla Ward rejected the silver catsuit they made for her for this episode (similar to the outfits that the moon base babes wore in Gerry Andersons UFO). She said she didnt want perverts fantcising about her........so she wore a school uniform instead. That ought to do the trick.
Anyone else see the resemblance the main crack has with certain Cracks in Time? Moffat's son's bedroom MY ASS! (according to Tardis wiki for Time Field). BRING BACK ROMANA!
I like ANy episode or book where the Doctor experiences discomfort. I just have this Munchausen thing going... esp in my fanfics! HAHAHAh Hey ,does anybody have a complete list of all the eppys where that happens?
@bolsendama Adams was script editor for this season but also cowrote City of Death with producer Graham Williams under the pen name David Agnew from a story by David Fisher.
The Doctor can't take a regular stroll...France is pretty-and this was the first episode where the filming was done outside UK...Two Gallifreyans attempting to enjoy France...this is funny...
DocMana lol. Sarah Jane may have fell in love with the Doctor in his fourth incarnation, but Romana's one of the rare times in the Classic series that they came close to showing the Doctor and a companion sharing similar feelings for each other.
This is cinematic! Baker and Ward's chemistry is undeniable, General Frickin' Veers is the villain, even the normally horrible incindental music and SFX are on point.
"Where are we going?"
"Are you talking philosophically or geographically?"
I was quite fortunate to have been in this Doctor Who episode. While visiting Paris in 1980 I was caught as a passer-by as Tom and Lalla walked past. Thought they were eccentric hippies, not being exposed to their work before. No cameras were visible; probably hidden in trucks.
@MarkJoseph4: Indeed. Note the shape of the crack on the clock face at 8:18. It's the one Moffat, who wrote this episide, used in the 11th Doctors story arc "A Crack in Time".
@BibelotMyFuzball I have a couple more that I uploaded but I think the show was in its prime during the Pertwee and Baker years. Try Genesis of the Daleks, The Green Death, Inferno, and The Talons of Weng-Chiang. All of those are great episodes.
@NinjaMatie Thank you so much for uploading City of Death! I've tried to find it everywhere, but it is still missing a chunk. If you still have the entire episode, could you seed it to thepiratebay(dot)org? Thanks!
@BibelotMyFuzball Genesis of the daleks, Planet of Evil, Talons of Weng-Chiang, Ghost Light, Earthshock, Silver Nemesis, Time and the Rani, Deadly Assassin, The Pirate Planet, The Leisure Hive, Terror of the Zygons, Ark in Space, The Daemons, The Curse of Peladon, The Invasion.
@BibelotMyFuzball I recommend, 'The Caves of Androzani', 'Revelation of the Daleks', 'The Awakening'. 'Enlightenment' and 'The Greatest Show in the Galaxy' - All of the classic, CLASSIC WHO!!!!!
The best episode ever made according to most Baker connosuirs in "The Ark in Space", where they got the idea for the movie "Alien"........watch it and see. Several scenes had to be cut because they were deemed too scary for kids......like the bit where Noahs head bursts open and a mass of green Wirren puss oozes out. Bakers monologue "indomitable" was one of the best ever.
@BibelotMyFuzball I'll recommend one for ever Doctor: 1. (Okay, except this one... don't know him well enough...) 2. The War Games 3. Terror of the Autons 4. Talons of Weng Shiang 5. Caves of Androzani 6. Vengeance on Varos 7. Remembreance of the Daleks (8 only had the TV movie) 9. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances 10. Human Nature/Family of Blood 11. (The whole 5th series of New Who is worth watching)
You can watch it in HD? Overkill or what. Love Doctor Who and Tom Baker. I got the Hornet's Nest audio drama recently and its great to hear him reprise his role
David Agnew was actually 3 people in 1 name: Douglas Adams, David Fisher and Graham Williams all had a hand in writing this serial. And they did a FUCKING FANTASTIC JOB!!!
I love this story, although I haven;t seen it since it was first broadcast. The picture of Romana with a broken clockface has always stuck in my mind. I also smile at the chemistry Tom and Lalla had in this, shortly after they became married. Didn't last though :(
what season was this from?

at 8:08 does that have to deal with the same crack in time that the 2010 series had?

So supposedly this was written by Douglas Adams under the false name David Agnew. Douglas Adams introduced Lalla Ward to her current husband.
Just mentioning it... Because it's awesome.
Damn, though, it appeals to my inner 4/Romana fan!
