envy of the free world? why does the american system (state elections like those in vermont and minnesota excluded) exclude the naders and pauls from debates and try to pass them off to the electorate as crazies when countries like france don't discriminate against independents? that sounds more democratic to me.

Holy Shit!!! This guy doesn't know anything about the democratic process in other countries. There are some countries that regularly get 80-90% turn out. Our average from 1960 to 1995 was 54% for General Elections, the midterms are generally 15% lower than the preceding General Election. This year was the highest since 1908 and it was only approx. 64%

Our election system is the envy of the free world?? We have the lowest turnout in the free world and one of the least transparent systems in the free world. We have no proportional representation a two party system that are in effect two branches of the same party. The free world probably thinks our election system is a joke.

voter turnout. He knows that high minority voter turnout is his worst enemy.
